24. Liquids, such as water, coffee, or tea are able to
be overheated beyond the boiling poim without
appeaing to be boiling due to surthce tension of
the liquid. Visible bnbbling or boiling when the
contail_eris removed from the microwave oven is
not always present. THIS COULD RESULT 1N
VERY HOT LIQUIDS SUDDENLY BOILING
OVER WHEN A SPOON OR OTHER
UTENSIL IS INSERTED INTO THE LIQUID.
To reduce the risk of il!iUlY to persons:
_,1) Do not overheat the hquld.

through heating it
(_) Do not use straight-sided containers with

the microwave oven for a short tilne before
removing the container.

25. Read and follow specific microwave oven
preparation instructions on food packages or
containers (especially baby food). Above all, this
is a cooking appliance designed to prepare food.
26. Use only cookingutensils and accessoriesmade tbr
use in the microwave and specificallydescribed in
this manual.
27. Microwave oven manuthcturers do not recommend
deep M flying or flying in a microwave oven. Hot
oil can damage oven parts and utensils and even
resultin skinburns.
28. Plastic _xTap: Use only those types designed for
microwave oven use and avoid tbnning an air-tight
seal. Fold back a small corner or cut a small slit to
allowsteamto escape.
29. Stay near theappliance while it is in use and check
cookingprogress frequently.Leaving the appliance
unattended may reslut in overcooked food and
possiblya fireinyour oven.
30. Foods cooked in liquids (such as pasta) may tend
to boil over more rapidly than tbods containingless
moisture. Should this occur, refer to the Care and
Cleaningsection_brinsmrctionsonhow to cleanthe
insideof the oven.

31. Do not use a thermometer in %od you are
mierowavingunless the thermometeris designedor
reconmaendedtbruse inthe microwaveoven.
32. Plasticcoobvare designed tbrmicrowavecooking is
very useful, hut should be used carefully. Even
microwave-safe plastic may not be as tolerant of
overcooking conditions as are glass or ceramic
materials and may soften or char if subjected to
shortperiodsof overeooking.In longerexposuresto
overcooking, the tbod and eookware could ignite.
For these reasons:1) Use microwave-safe plastics
only and use them in strict compliance with the
eoo_vare manuIhcturer'sreeonmaendations.2) Do
not subject emptyeoobvare to mJerowaving.3) Do
not permitchildren to use plasticeoo_vare without
completesupervision.
33. Do not store anythig directly on top of the
microwave oven surface when the oven is in
operation.
34. TV dinners may be mierowaved in tbil trays less
than3/4" deep;removetop foilcover and remm tray
to box.When using metal inlnierowave oven, keep
metal at least 1 inch away from the sides of the
oven.
35. Do not defrost frozen beverages in narrow necked
bottles.
36. Cookware may become hot because of heat
transtkrredfrom the heated food. Potholdersmaybe
needed to handlethe coobvare.
37. Donot try tomelt paraflSnwax in theoven. Paraffin
wax will not melt in a microwave oven because it
allowsmicrowavesto passthroughit.
38.Never use sharp-edgedutensils inor neartheoven.
39. Hot tbods and steam can cause burns. Be earethl
when opening containers of hot food, including
popcorn bags, cooking pouches and boxes. To
prevent possible injury, direct steam away from
hands and thee.
40. Clean thevent hood often. Do not allow grease to
build up onthe hood or the tilter.
41.Use care when cleaning the vent hood tilter.
Corrosive cleaning agents, such as lye-based oven
cleaners,maydamagethe filter.
42. When flaming foods are under the hood, turn the
fanon.
