INTRODUCTION Overview Your new stylish digital camera delivers high quality, 2272 x 1704 resolution images using a 4.0 Megapixels CCD sensor. Using either the optical viewfinder or the 1.5" LTPS TFT color image LCD monitor, you can compose images and then examine them in detail. An auto-flash sensor automatically detects the shooting (lighting) conditions and determines whether the flash should be used. This feature helps ensure that your images turn out right.

Preparing Your Camera Installing the Batteries You can use 2 AA size batteries to power the camera. Battery power is convenient for capturing images or recording video clips. 1. Make sure your camera is off. 2. Slide the battery/SD card cover lock. 3. Insert the batteries according to the correct polarity marks (+ or -). 4. Close the battery/SD card cover lock firmly. E You may use a CR-V3 Lithium battery pack.
Using an AC Power Adapter (Optional Accessory) There’s also another way to power your camera–using an AC power Adapter. AC power adapter is recommended for long periods of continuous use or for transferring images to your computer. 1. Make sure your camera is off. 2. Open the port cover and connect one end of the AC power adapter to the jack labeled “DC IN”. 3. Connect the other end to an electrical outlet. Make sure to use only the AC power adapter specified for the camera.
Installing an SD Memory Card (Optional Accessory) Your camera comes with 16MB of internal memory, allowing you to store images and video clips in the camera. However, you can also expand the memory capacity by using the SD memory card. Optional SD memory card provide removable, reusable storage for images and video clips. E 1. Setting the Language Specify in which language menus and messages are to be displayed on the LCD monitor. Follow the steps below to set the OSD (On-Screen Display) language. 1. Using the LCD Monitor Using the LCD monitor can help you to confirm an image while taking pictures, to replay recorded images/video clips or to adjust menu settings. Using the Optical Viewfinder to Shoot Your camera is also equipped with an optical viewfinder to compose images. Using the viewfinder helps you to compose images and adjust the subject in the crisp focus. Taking images by using the optical viewfinder will conserve more battery power. We recommend you to use the viewfinder when your batteries’ level is in low condition. 1. Adjusting the Zoom The lens moves during the zoom photography. Zoom photography allows you to capture telephoto and wide-angle images. The subject appears closer by sliding the zoom controller towards [ T ] and appears farther away by sliding the zoom controller towards [ W ]. E 1. Using the Self-Timer This setting enables images to be taken with the [ ] self-timer. The [ ] self-timer button can select the capturing mode between “Off” (default) and “Self timer” (5 seconds, 10 seconds or 10+2 seconds). [5 SEC]: Your camera automatically takes a picture after five seconds delay. [10 SEC]: Your camera automatically takes a picture after ten seconds delay. [10+2 SEC]: Your camera automatically takes a picture after ten seconds delay, and takes another picture again after two seconds. 1.
Using the Flash The flash is designed to function automatically when lighting conditions warrant the use of flash. You can take an image using a suitable flash mode to your circumstances. 1. Rotate the mode dial based on your desired scenery (Video/Auto/ Program/Scene/Manual/Av/Tv) and power on your camera. 2. Press the [ ] flash button located on the rear side of the camera repeatedly until your desired flash mode appears on the LCD monitor.

Scene Mode [ SCENE ] This sets the scene setting such as [ Backlight or [ ] Landscape, [ ] Portrait, [ ] Sports, [ ] Night Scene, [ ] ] Pan and takes the photograph. 1. Rotate the mode dial to [ SCENE ] Scene mode and power on your camera. 2. Toggle the / button to select the desired scene mode. Video Mode [ ] Using [ ] Video mode you can record video clips at a resolution of 256 x 192 pixels. Voice can also be recorded. 1. Rotate the mode dial to [ ] Video mode and power on your camera. 2. You can start recording a video clip by pressing the shutter button. The elapsed time displays on the LCD monitor while recording a video clip. The recording time depends on the storage size and the subject of the images to be recorded. 3. To stop recording, press the shutter button again.
Program (Automatic Exposure) Mode [ P ] Using the Program (Automatic Exposure) the camera automatically sets the shutter speed and the aperture to match the brightness of the scene. 1. Rotate the mode dial to [ P ] Program. 2. Power on your camera. 3. Compose your picture. 4. Press the shutter button. Shutter Speed Priority Mode [ Tv ] When you set the shutter speed mode, the camera automatically selects an aperture setting to match the image’s brightness.
Aperture Priority Mode [ Av ] When you set the aperture mode, the camera automatically selects a shutter speed to fit the brightness. Choosing a lower aperture value (Higher F value) letting you fade the background and create a beautiful portrait. A higher aperture value (Lower F value) both close objects and distant objects (such as landscape scenery) will be in focus. The larger the aperture value, the greater the range of the image brought into clear focus.
Photography-Selecting Particular Effects Changing Image Resolution and Quality Resolution and quality settings determine the pixel size (dimension), image file size, and compression ratio for your images. These settings affect the number of images that can be stored in memory, or on an SD memory card. As you get to know the camera, it is recommended that you try each quality and resolution setting to get an appreciation for the effects that these settings will have on your images.
Possible Number of Shots (Still Image) The frame counter indicates the approximate number of images that can be stored on the internal memory or the SD memory card at the camera’s image quality and size settings.
Adjusting the Exposure Compensation Your camera adjusts the exposure of each scene automatically. However, if the subject is very dark or very bright, you may override the camera automatic exposure determination to make the subject brighter or darker. This is called “EV compensation”. 1. Setting the White Balance The human eye adapts to changes in light so that white objects still appear white even when the light changes. With cameras, however, the color of the subject is influenced by the color of the light surrounding it. This color adjustment is called “white balance adjustment”. Switching between Metering Modes Set the metering method to calculate the exposure. 1. Automated Playback (Slide Show) The function enables you to play your images back automatically in sequential order as a slide show. This is a very useful and entertaining feature reviewing recorded images and for presentations. 1. Power on your camera. 2. Press the [ ] playback button. 3. Press the [ ] menu button and select “SLIDE SHOW” by using the / button and press the button. 4. Set the playback interval by using the / button.
Protecting Images/Video Clips This option lets you prevent recorded images or video clips from being accidentally erased. E 1. Power on your camera. 2. Take your SD memory card to a DPOF enabled printer or through laboratory printing services that accept memory cards. Transferring Recorded Images/Video Clips To Your Computer You can share recorded images/ video clips with your family or friends via e-mail or post them on the Web. Before doing those things, you need to connect the camera to your computer by using the USB cable and then transfer the images/video clips.
Step 1: Installing the USB Driver on a Windows PC The USB driver on the supplied CD-ROM is exclusively for Windows 98. Installing the USB driver on computers running Windows 2000/Me/XP is not necessary. 1. Insert the CD-ROM packaged with the camera into the CD-ROM drive. The welcome screen appears. 2. Click “Install USB Driver”. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. After the USB driver installation is complete, restart your computer.
Step 2: Connecting the Camera to Your Computer 1. Connect one end of the USB cable to an available USB port on your computer. 2. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB connector on the camera. 3. Turn the camera on. 4. Look for a new “Removable Disk” icon appearing in the “My Computer” window. Your recorded images/video clips will be in a folder on this “removable disk”. (For Mac users, double-click the “untitled” disk on the desktop.
Step 3: Downloading Images/Video Clips When the camera is turned on and connected to your computer, it is considered to be a disk drive, just like a floppy disk or CD. You can download (transfer) images by copying them from the “removable disk” (“untitled” disk on a Macintosh) to your computer hard drive. For Computers Running Windows Open the “removable disk” by double clicking on it. Double click on the folder contains your recorded images/video clips.
Installing PhotoSuite PhotoSuite is a very user-friendly image-editing program. With PhotoSuite, you can breezily retouch, compose and organize your images. It contains a variety of templates, such as photo frames, birthday cards, calendars and more. Get your images ready and go explore this amazing program. To Install PhotoSuite 1. COLOR To capture an image, your camera offers you four types of color (Full color/Vivid/Black and White/ Sepia) to match with your preference. Your images will demonstrate different impression by choosing different types of color. WHITE BALANCE Refer to chapter “Setting the White Balance” in Photography-Selecting Particular Effects for further details. This setting is not available for [ A ] Auto mode and [SCENE] Scene mode. ISO The ISO speed decides the sensitivity to the lights. The higher the ISO number is, the more sensitive it is to the lights. When recording under dark situations or recording a fast moving, use a high-number setting. However, while recording high quality images, we suggest you to use a low-number setting.
Playback Menu This feature allows you to transfer your recorded images/video clips to a SD memory card, to create an on-camera slide show or configure DPOF settings. You may also delete one or all stored images, format your SD memory card or the internal memory. / button.
