6. Preparation If necessary, remove the protective foils from the colour monitors and the lens, and attach the carry strap. The included carry strap is attached to the corresponding bracket on the side of the camera. First, pull the short loop of the strap through the eyelet and then the band through the loop. At the bottom side of the camera there is a compartment to insert the batteries and the memory card. Open the compartment by holding the lock button to the side and then sliding the cover outwards.
6.2. Inserting the memory card 1. First turn off the camera and then open the battery compartment as previously described. 2. The memory card (microSD / SDHC card) is inserted into the small compartment next to the batteries. Slide in the memory card into the card slot with the gold pins first and facing the rear monitor until it clicks in place. Do not forcefully insert the card, since this could damage the card and the card slot.
6.3. Formatting the memory card This function will format the memory card, erasing all images and data contained therein. Note: • Please keep in mind: Formatting irreversibly deletes all pictures and video clips on the microSD/SDHC memory card! Therefore, transfer important data on to a computer before the memory card is formatted. 1. Press the button Menu [9] in the photo or video mode. 2. 7. Camera settings All menu settings can only be performed when the rear monitor is activated. If the front monitor is activated no setting adjustments can be performed. 7.1. Photo mode In the Settings menu of the photo mode, the settings for taking photos can be made. 1. Press the M (mode) button and select the picture mode [ ]. 2. Press the button Menu [9] to access the settings menu. 3. In the video menu [ ] select the desired option with the / buttons and press the shutter button to enter the submenu. 4. Select the desired option with the / buttons and press the shutter button to confirm the selection. 5. Press the button Menu [9] to exit the menu.
7.3. Setup Menu In the setup menu the basic settings of your camera can be set. 1. Press the button Menu [9] in the photo mode [ ] or video mode [ ] to access the settings menu. 2. Select the Setup menu [ ] by pressing the button . 3. In the Setup menu [ ] select the desired option with the / buttons and press the shutter button to enter the submenu. 4. Select the desired option with the / buttons and press the shutter button to confirm the selection. 5. Press the button Menu [9] to exit the menu.
Power Save If if no buttons are pressed for a time period which can be determined here, the camera will shut off automatically. This function is used to conserve battery power. 8. Using the camera 8.1. Taking photos The camera is equipped with a 2.7 "colour LCD TFT screen on the back that enables you to perform settings for pictures, playback recorded pictures or video clips or adjust menu settings. 1. Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the camera. The camera will automatically be in the photo mode [ ]. 2. Use the macro button to correctly adjust the distance to the object being photographed. Select the flower symbol [O] when you want to make a close up photograph (11cm 18 cm).
4. Arrange the picture on the rear monitor. This camera is equipped with an 8x digital zoom. With the zoom button, you able to bring objects closer to you. Press the zoom button “T” to zoom closer to the object and to enlarge the image. Press the zoom button “W” to zoom away from the object and display and display an image with a wider viewing angle. 5. 9. Connecting to a Computer The camera can be connected to a computer as a mass storage device via the USB port. This way, photos and videos can be transferred to the computer. 1. Connect the camera to your computer using the USB cable. 2. Turn the camera on. The camera will be supplied with power through the USB connection. 3. The camera will install itself on the computer as an additional drive called "Removable Disk". 4.

Installing the software The enclosed CD-Rom contains the following software for Windows XP, Vista and 7: MAGIX Photo Manager 10™ -A program for quick archiving and for editing and reproducing photos on your computer. MAGIX Video Easy SE™ - This software makes it easy to cut and edit videos, as well as creating video CDs and DVDs. Note: • Before installing the included software, please perform a data backup.
