EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit Appendix 2 APPENDIX 2 1. INTRODUCTION This appendix gives the information necessary for the use of the Quattro with other equipment than the EchoStar receiver. This appendix also contains a code reference list which gives the program code for most of the know TV, video and audio equipment.
Appendix 2 EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit i key If the function is available, this key activates the display/information function for TV, VCR and DVD equipment. Satellite list key This key is not used. Volume +/- keys This key is used to control the volume level for the selected equipment. CH +/- keys This key is used to move one channel up or down for the selected equipment. Arrow cluster To scroll left, up, right or down.
EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit Appendix 2 Numerical keys The Numerical keys (0-9, TV/RAD, FAV) activates the same functions as available on your original remote control unit, such as direct access program selection. TV/RAD key If the function is available, this key operates as the AV key for TV and as TV/VCR for VCR. FAV key If your original remote control unit uses one/two number keys (usually marked as -/--, 10 or 20), press this key as usual.
Appendix 2 EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit 4.2. SETUP WITH USE OF THE SEARCH CODE FEATURE NOTE ■ A completed search is indicated by eight blinks. If the original remote control unit for the VCR, DVD or audio device does not have a on/off key: before you continue insert a tape or disk before you continue; ■ For some codes the play or Volume + key might work. ■ 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Switch your TV to on and make sure a broadcast is seen.
EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit Appendix 2 5.1. SETUP A SECOND TV OR VCR NOTE The procedure to assign a second TV or VCR is identical, therefor only the procedure to assign the second TV is given. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. On the RCU, press the TV key continuously until the indicator stays on. Release the TV key and make sure the indicator blinks continuously. Use the numerical keys to enter code 9 9 2. Monitor the TV key and note that the indicator goes on and off and finally stays on.
Appendix 2 EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit 6.3. REAL-TIME MACROS This feature allows you to program a macro on any key. With a macro you can assign a chain of key strokes to any key on the RCU, also on a mode key. The macros are recorded and played real-time, which means the actual time between key strokes will also be recorded. 6.3.1. DEFINE A MACRO NOTE ■ You have to complete the macro within a maximum of 8 key strokes.
EchoStar Quattro, Programmable Remote Control Unit Appendix 2 6.4.2. FULL FACTORY RESET 1. 2. 3. 4. 7. On the RCU, press the SAT key continuously until the indicator stays on. Keep the SAT key pressed. Use the numerical keys to enter code 9 8 1 and note that the indicator blinks four times. Now the RCU is programmed with the factory settings and ready for reprogramming. TROUBLESHOOTING Problem Possible cause What to do? 1. Device does not respond to the RCU.
