It will play MP3 and JPEG files as well. To play a DVD, make sure it meets the requirements for Region Codes and Color Systems as described below. Discs that have the following logos will play on the DVD player of this TV/DVD.

Use this hookup if you want to hear the TV/DVD sound through the Stereo instead. Use these Coaxial digital audio cable connections for a Dolby Digital-compatible Stereo or for a Receiver that has a Mini-Disc or to COAXIAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUT jack Digital Audio Tape deck. on TV/DVD Connect the antenna/Cable TV signal.

To reset TV channels, see pages 18 and 19. If you are using a Cable Box or Satellite Receiver, you do not need to set channels at the TV/DVD. 1 2 Press STANDBY-ON to turn on the TV/DVD. 3 Press VOL. ▲ or ▼ to adjust the volume. To watch TV, press CH. ▲ or ▼ to select memorized channels.

Although the factory settings are usually the best, you may need to make some adjustments for a natural looking image. 1 2 1 Press PICTURE so the first Picture Control appears. Within 5 seconds, press K or L to select BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR,TINT or SHARPNESS.
T9103_8103UD_EN_0411 4/11/05 10:43 AM Page 21 Sleep Timer 21 Use the Sleep Timer to program the TV/DVD to shut off in a certain amount of time. ● Before you begin, press SELECT to put the TV/DVD in TV mode. 1 Press SLEEP repeatedly until your desired amount of time appears on the screen with SLEEP. Each press of SLEEP will increase the time by 30 minutes.You may set a Sleep Timer of 30, 60, 90 or 120 minutes. After 10 seconds, the Sleep Timer information will disappear from the screen.

Not all TV programs and commercials have Closed Captions or all types of Closed Captions (second language, half-screen text, etc.). If Closed Captioning is not broadcast, you cannot receive it.This does not indicate a problem with the TV/DVD. Check your TV program listings for shows with Closed Captions.

V-Chip reads the ratings for TV programming (except for news and sports programs, unedited movies on premium cable channels, and Emergency Broadcast System signals), then denies access to programming if the program’s rating meets the limitations you select. When you turn “TV-Y” to VIEW (or BLOCK), all ratings will turn to VIEW (or BLOCK) automatically.

Press ▲ or ▼ to select V-CHIP SET UP. Then, press ENTER. Press the Number buttons to enter the old access code. When doing this for the first time, use 0000.

DVD Disc Menus Some DVDs contain menus that describe the contents of the disc or allow you to customize disc playback. For example, the menu may offer choices for subtitle languages, special features or scene selection. To use the DVD disc menu and select features, follow these steps. 1 2 Press DISC MENU.

Title/Chapter Playback 1 During DVD playback, press SEARCH MODE until CH (for chapter) or TT (for title) appears on the TV.The number of available titles or chapters will appear at the right ( /4, for example). 2 _/4 2 Enter a title or chapter number using the Number buttons.

A-B A Using the Number Buttons Press the Number buttons to enter a track number. Playback will start at the selected track.

Paused and Step-by-Step Playback 1 During playback, press PAUSE F. Playback will pause and the sound will be mute. ● Pressing PAUSE F once during Dual Playback will pause a JPEG file only. Pressing PAUSE F one more time will pause an MP3 playback.

On an Audio CD or Video CD (without PBC), select TRACK, ALL (all tracks on the disc) or OFF.With MP3 or JPEG files, select TRACK, GROUP (all tracks in the current folder), ALL or OFF.

To set the Markers, follow these steps. ● Before you begin, press SELECT to put the TV/DVD in DVD mode.Then, press PLAY B or OPEN/CLOSE A to activate DVD mode. 1 Play the disc to within 30 seconds prior to the point at which you want to set the Marker. During playback, press SEARCH MODE repeatedly until the Markers appear at the top of the TV screen.

Subtitles Select a language for DVD subtitles during playback.You may select only the subtitles that are available on the DVD. 1 During playback, press SUBTITLE repeatedly to select a subtitle language. The number of available languages appears at the right of the subtitle display.

Slow Motion 1 2 Press PAUSE F during DVD or Video CD playback. Press D or h. Slow motion playback will begin. Press D or h repeatedly to play the DVD forward or backward at approximately 1/16, 1/8 or 1/2 the normal speed. Reverse slow motion is not available on a Video CD.

Audio Language You can select a language for DVDs during playback if multiple languages are available. 1 During DVD playback, press AUDIO repeatedly to choose one of the available languages. Audio display appears at the top of the TV screen, and the new audio will be heard.

These discs may contain pictures in a JPEG format or audio tracks in an MP3 format. For example, you may have photographic film developed by a retailer that places the pictures on a CD-R for you.These pictures may be in JPEG format.

Dual Playback This feature lets you play MP3 and JPEG files simultaneously. Available only when Dual Playback is on. You can change the TV aspect ratio and Still Mode clarity in the display menu. 1 While playback is stopped, press SETUP once. The TV SETUP menu appears. – TV SETUP – B LANGUAGE [ENGLISH] 2 Press SETUP again. The QUICK SETUP screen will appear.

Choose 4:3 LETTER BOX if you want to see the entire, widened picture with black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. This looks like the picture you see when watching movies in a theater. This setting is possible only if the DVD was recorded in the letterbox or widescreen format.

Change Audio settings based on other equipment you connected to the TV/DVD or according to your disc sound features.These settings only affect the Audio from the DVD player of the TV/DVD. 1 While playback is stopped, press SETUP once. The TV SETUP menu appears. – TV SETUP – B LANGUAGE [ENGLISH] 2 Press SETUP again.

This feature will not limit viewing if the DVD is not rated or coded. Check your DVDs and settings before letting children access the TV/DVD. The Parental feature affects only DVD viewing. It does not block TV programming.To block TV viewing, change the V-Chip settings. Details are on pages 23-27.
