For Customers Using an RIHD-compatibleTV,
Player, or Recorder
When the
AV
receiveris connected to an RIHD-compatible TV,
the following linked operations are possible:
When the
TV
is set to Standby, the
AV
receiver will also go
on Standby.
Using the
TV's
menus, you can select whether to use the
speakers connected to the
AV
receiver
or
the
TV's
speakers.
You can listen to
TV
programs,
or
external sources con-
nected to the TV, through the speakers connected to the
AV
receiver. (An optical
or
other audio connection is required in
addition to an HDMI cable.)
You can adjust the volumeand select input sources on the
AV
receiver with the
TV's
remote controller.
You can adjust the volume and change channels on the
TV
with the
AV
receiver's remote controller.
When the
AV
receiver is connected to an RIHD-compatible
player
or
recorder, the following linked operations are possible:
Depends on a component, not all functions may work.
When playback is started on the player
or
recorder, the
AV
receiver automatically selects the HDMI input to which the
player
or
recorder is connected.
You
can operate the player
or
recorder with the
AV
receiver's
remote controller.
AV
Receiver Setup
1.
Connect the
AV
receiver to the TV, as explained in "Con-
necting a
TV
or
Projector" in the Instruction Manual, and
use audio connection
Ii
(DIGITAL OPTICAL IN 1).
2. Assign the HDMI IN to which the
AV
component is con-
nected to an input selector, as explained in
"HDMI
Input
Setup" in the Instruction Manual.
3.
Set the following settings to Enable, as explained in "Hard-
ware Setup," "HDMI" in the Instruction Manual.

The
TV
and DVD player must also be configured for linked
operation. Refer to the Instruction Manual for each component
and configure it accordingly.
After Configuring Each Component
If
you're using for the very first time, have changed the settings
of
a component, have turned off a component, have unplugged
a component's power cord from the wall outlet,
or
experienced
a power outage, linked operation may temporarily fail to work.
In this case, perform the following procedure:
1.
Make sure each component is connected with an
HDMI
cable.
2. Turn on all
of
the components.
3.
On the
TV,
select the
AV
input to which the
AV
receiver is
connected.
4. Turn off the TV, and then turn it back
on
again.
5. Turn
off
the
AV
receiver, and then turn it back on again.
6.
On the
AV
receiver, press each input selector button in turn
and confirm that the picture from each
of
the source com-
ponents connected to the
AV
receiver appears on the
TV.

Notes
Audio from DVD-Audio and SACD sources will not be out-
put through the
TV's
speakers.
If
you set the DVD player's
audio output to 2-channel PCM, sound will be output by the
TV's
speakers.
When listening through only the
TV's
speakers,
if
you oper-
ate the
AV
receiver's volume control,
or
select another input
source, sound will beoutput by the speakers connected to the
AV
receiver. To listen through only the
TV's
speakers again,
you'll need to perform the setup again on the
TV.
If
you connect an R I capable component,
do
not connect it
with an
R I cable.
When
you use the
AV
receiver's TAPE, TUNER,
or
CD
input, sound can only be output by the speakers connected to
the
AV
receiver.
On the TV, when a input other than the HDMI input
that's
connected to the
AV
receiver is selected, the
AV
receiver will
switch to the
GAMErrV
input.

TV)
Toshiba players and recorders that support
CE-LINK
(only
when used with a Toshiba
TV
that supports CE-LINK)
Components other than those listed here may also provide
linked operation
if
they support the CEC part
of
the HDMI
standard, however, operation cannot be guaranteed.
