With this connection, you can record and view any channel,
including scrambled channels.
However, channel ,selectionsmust be made at the cable converter
box. This means that:
e You can record any channel by using your remote control to
select channels at the cable converter box (see "Cable
Converter Box Code Setting" on page 37).
If you set up the cable box using the TV GUIDE Plus+ system,
the VCR will select the cable converter box channel automati-
cally when you program a timer recording. Details are in TV
GUIDE Plus+ Setup section of the TV GUIDE Plus+ manual.
Leave the cable converter box on while you are recording.
If you have not set up the TV GUIDE Plus+ system, you need
the following preparations before the timer recordings start.
You can only program a timer recording for one channel at
a time.
When you are prompted to enter the channel you want to
record, select channel 3 or 4 (whichever is the output chan-
nel of your cable converter box).
Set your cable converter box to the channel you want to
record.
Leave the cable converter box on while you are recording.
You cannot view a channel other than the one you are recording
(the instructions on page 19 do not work with this hookup).
e You cannot program channels with this hookup (as discussed
on pages seven and 28).
Positioning the cable converter box
Place the cable converterbox on top of theVCR as shown. (The
cable converterbox should tilt upwardslightly. You may need to
place a small object under one side of the cable converter box in
order to tilt the cable converter box.) It is best to place the cable
converter box beyond the centcr of the VCR or along the back of
the VCR.
If the cable converter box does not receive the signals, try to slide
the cable converter box to the right or left, or move it toward the
back of the VCR until you find the best position. The signal could
be distorted if it travels through glass repeatedly. For this reason,
if your equipment is in an entertainment center with glass doors,
leave the glass doors open.
Do not block any ventilation openings of the VCR or the cable
converter box.
