Regulations
Use policies
Since 2001, the R&TTE Directive has replaced all former national
conditions of admission in the European Union. Nevertheless,
partially different national regulations apply to the usage of the
frequency spectrum.
In D (80/40, 40/40 channels), F, NL, and P (40/40 channels) CB
radio is free of charge and can be set without any registration.
However, when using the 80/40 programming in Germany, the
stationary transmit operation using the channels 41-80 is in certain
regions along the German borders not allowed or only allowed in
combination with a special permission .
If the radio set is programmed to 40 channels FM only, it may be
used without licence and free of charge in D, DK, F, GB, GR, H,
IRL, IS, L, N, NL, P, S (except Austria where radio sets with country
setting are generally not allowed and Italy where individual licence
is requested for 40 channels FM programming as well). Residents
of Beligium, Great Britain, Spain and Switzerland need a CB licence
for their home country while travellers from other European countries
may use 40 channels FM free of licence and charge during travelling
in these countries.
In Belgium 40 channels AM is allowed to travellers under the
conditions of their home country (e.g. travellers from Germany).
Due to its nonharmonized frequency bands in AM and FM, this
radio set may only be used in the countries B, CH, E and I with a
valid licence.
Our urgent request: Prior to using your radio set, please take
the compulsory registration in the above mentioned countries
seriously! If you are met with an adjustment subject to registration
and you are not able to present any registration, you risk to be
punished with a severe penalty. The Circulation Card, which is
available at the CB radio clubs or in Germany at the Federal
Network Agency "Bundesnetzagentur" (Canisiusstraße 21,
D-55122 Mainz, Tel. 06131-18-0, www.bundesnetzagentur.de), is
sufficient in other countries.
Instructions for installation
For some time, the automobile manufacturers have specified the
positions in and on the motor vehicles at which the radio sets and
its antennas may be mounted.
On the one hand, this is done to protect you from excessive field
intensities inside your motor vehicle, on the other hand to avoid
malfunctions of the electronic system in the car due to radiation.
In any case, you should observe these specifications, since the
type approval of your vehicle can expire otherwise.
Thus, contact your automobile dealer for the corresponding
manufacturer specifications belonging to your car model.
