Always switch off the tool before insertion or removal of the battery cartridge. To remove the battery cartridge, pull out the set plate on the tool and grasp both sides of the cartridge while withdrawing it from the tool. *To insert the battery cartridge, align the tongue on the battery cartridge with the groove in the housing and slip it into place. Snap the set plate back into place.
CAUTION: The fast charger Model DC1201 is specifically designed to charge only Makita battery cartridges. Never use it for other purposes or for other manufacturer's batteries. When you charge a new battery cartridge or a battery cartridge which has not been used for a long period of time, it may not accept a full charge. This is a normal condition and does not indicate a problem. You can recharge the battery cartridge fully after discharging it completely and recharging a couple of times.
Adjusting the driving depth Depress the stopper plate as far as it will go. While keeping it in this position, turn the adjusting knob until the bit tip projects from the stopper plate. approx. 5 mm (3/16") Drive a trial screw. If the screw head projects above the surface of the workpiece, turn the adjusting knob in the Wdirection; if the screw head is countersunk, turn the adjusting knob in the B direction. Approx.
Carry hook The carry hook is convenient for temporarily hanging the tool. It can be installed on either left or right side of the tool. Hook Switching ON and OFF CAUTlON: Before inserting the battery cartridge into the tool, always check to see that the switch trigger actuates properly and returns to the "OFF" position when released. Installing or removing the bit CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery cartridge is removed before installing or removing the bit. Loosen the bolt which secures the casing. Pull out the casing in the direction of the arrow. Press the dust cover toward the plane bearing and pull out the bit. If the dust cover cannot be moved as far as the plane bearing, try it again after turning the bit slightly. To install the bit, insert it into the socket while turning it slightly.
