Lapping (grinding) blade • When the cylinder blade loses sharpness, perform lapping (grinding) in the following way. Note that lapping is a simple form of sharpening, so it will not restore the blades to their new state. If the cylinder blade and/or the fixed blade is/are worn down greatly, replace both cylinder and fixed blades as one set. • The leading edges of the spiral-shaped blades on the cylinder blade are coated in red paint.
NOTE: • Whilst lapping, do not operate the Mowing/Lapping Flip Switch. • Doing so may cause damage. 7. Unplug the power cord and then turn over the main unit, and return to procedure No. 1., in order to repeat lapping. After repeating the above two or three times, perform lapping adjustment using lapping adjustment screws, and then check to see that the blades can cut a piece of newspaper (newspaper should be at right angle to fixed blade when lowered into blades).
