Section 7 Refrigeration System
Part No. 80-1100-3 7-51
Remote Charging Procedures
1. Be sure the toggle switch is in the OFF position.
2. Close the vacuum pump valve, the low and high side
service valves (frontseat), and the low side manifold
gauge valve.
3. Open the charging cylinder and add the proper
refrigerant charge (shown on nameplate) into the
system high side (receiver outlet valve and
discharge lines quick-connect fitting).
4. If the high side does not take the entire charge,
close the high side on the manifold gauge set, and
backseat (open) the low side service valve and
receiver outlet service valve. Start the ice machine
and add the remaining charge through the low side
(in vapor form) until the machine is fully charged.
5. Ensure all vapor in charging hoses is drawn into the
machine, then disconnect the manifold gauges.
NOTE: Backseat the receiver outlet service valve after
charging is complete and before operating the ice
machine. If the access valve core removal and
installation tool is used on the discharge quick-connect
fitting, reinstall the Schraeder valve core before
disconnecting the access tool and hose.
6. Run the ice machine in freeze cycle.
7. Close the high side service valve at the ice machine.
8. Open the low side service valve at the ice machine.
9. Open the high and low side valves on the manifold
gauge set. Any refrigerant in the lines will be pulled
into the low side of the system.
10. Allow the pressures to equalize while the ice
machine is in the freeze cycle.
11. Close the low side service valve at the ice machine.
12. Remove the hoses from the ice machine and install
the caps.
