Read and understand this manual before attempting to operate this tiller. IV. WARNINGS - DOS Read and understand the owner’s manual. Pay particular attention to all sections regarding safety. 1. Always keep a firm grip on both handles while the tines are moving and/or the engine is running. BE AWARE!! The tines may coast after throttle trigger is released.
Safety Rules & Warnings V. WARNINGS - DON’TS Don’t use tiller with one hand. Keep both hands on handles with fingers and thumbs encircling the handles, while tines are moving, and engine is running. Don’t run with the machine, walk. Don’t work on excessively steep slopes. Don’t attempt to clear tines while they are moving. Never try to remove jammed material before switching the engine off and making sure the tines have stopped completely.

Assembly LET’S BEGIN • With the box upright, open the box and remove the tine box and the loose parts that are at the top of the tiller box. Do not remove any other parts in the box. • Lay the box on one side and open the bottom flaps. • Return the box to an upright position (as shown) and pull the box straight up. • Leave the engine and throttle handle in the cradle to assist in the assembly. • Lay everything out so you can easily identify the parts (see parts image and list on page 6).
Assembly (Continued) UPPER HANDLE ASSEMBLY 7a • Lightly squeeze the lower handles (T3) toward one another so that they line up with the two smaller holes on the carrying handle (T10). Then slide the carrying handle over and down the lower handles. It will rest about four to six inches above the fender. • Gently pull the lower handles out to their original position. 8 9 • Lift the upper handle until it lines up with the lower handle. • Insert carriage bold (T42) from outside in.
Assembly TINE ASSEMBLY (Continued) 4 5 • Attach the Tine so that the circular hole slides onto the axle first. 6 • When the axle protrudes from the other side it will line up perfectly with the “D” shaped hole. KICKSTAND ASSEMBLY 1 (Continued) 2 • Slide a retaining pin (T41) through the hole in the axle to secure the Tine. • Repeat steps for the other side. 3 • Position the kickstand brace just above the bend of the lower handles.
4-Cycle Tiller Fueling & Starting 4-CYCLE TILLER FUELING AND OIL ONLY IMPORTANT! It is normal for your 4 stroke engine to smoke for the first minute or two of operation, however it is not necessary for this to occur every time. This is a result of the oil being pulled through the engine for lubrication. • Rock the tiller forward so that it rests on the fuel tank. • Pour in 2.7 fl. oz. of approved, 4-cycle engine oil. Starting the engine for the first time, or “cold starting”, is easy.
4-Cycle Tiller Operation If engine does not stop when switch is put in the stop position, release the throttle, allow engine to idle. Put the tiller down, and slide the choke lever to the cold start (closed) position. Have product serviced before using. 4-Cycle Tiller Operation (Continued) The operator of this tiller is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to himself, other people or their property. If your tines get jammed or entangled, shut off the engine at once. Remove the obstruction while the engine is off. Never try to remove an obstruction while the engine is running. Serious injury can result.
4-Cycle Tiller Transportation & Storage 4-CYCLE TILLER TRANSPORTATION Transporting your Tiller is easy. It’s light enough and easy to carry using the carrying handle as seen in Figure 1. Or, with it running, you can walk it by gently squeezing the throttle until it moves at a comfortable pace. Your tiller is easily transported in the back of a car or truck. Be sure to empty the fuel tank (This is crucial)! Then stow your tiller in the trunk of your car or truck.
4-Cycle Tiller Maintenance Your 4 Cycle Tiller will require some basic maintenance to keep it performing year after year. If you are storing your tiller for the season or longer than 30 days it is very important to empty the fuel tank to prevent engine damage. Undoubtedly, you will be putting your tiller through rigorous use. Check engine oil level, air filter and fuel filter. Refer to your Honda® engine manual for more details.
4-Cycle Tiller Maintenance IMPORTANT: AIR FILTER MAINTENANCE A wet or dirty air filter can affect the way your engine starts, performs, and wears. So, it’s a good idea to check your air filter once a month. If you work in dusty soil, or if you want to be on the safe side — check your filter more often (for instance, before each use). But be sure to replace it at least once a year, in the spring or fall.
4-Cycle Tiller Maintenance (Continued) HOW TO RESEAT THE FLANGE At some point, you may find that the tines won’t turn when you press the throttle. This may mean the engine isn’t sitting all the way down on the worm gear housing. Perhaps you’ve been using your Tiller for several years. Or perhaps you’ve removed the engine for use with our hedge trimmer attachment, then replaced it. In either case, the flange bolt may have come loose and lifted the engine up.
Troubleshooting Problem Cause Remedy 1. T ines don’t turn when throttle is depressed • Engine is not seated properly on the gear housing. • Re-install engine following the instructions on page 16 “How to reseat the flange”. 2. Engine fails to start • O/I switch is in “O” position. • No fuel in tank. • Fuel strainer clogged. • Fuel line clogged. • Spark plug shorted or fouled.

Assemblage POUR COMMENCER • Placer la caisse debout, l'ouvrir et sortir la boîte de fraises et les pièces détachées placées dans le haut de la caisse. Ne sortir aucune autre pièce de la caisse. • Coucher la caisse sur le côté et ouvrir le fond. • Remettre la caisse en position verticale (comme sur l'illustration) et la tirer tout droit vers le haut. • Laisser le moteur et la commande d'accélérateur dans le socle pour faciliter l'assemblage.
Assemblage (suite) ASSEMBLAGE DU GUIDON SUPÉRIEUR 7a • Serrer légèrement les montants inférieurs de guidon (T3) l’un vers l’autre pour les aligner sur les deux petits trous de la poignée de transport (T10). Enfiler ensuite la poignée de transport vers le bas des montants inférieurs. Elle se place à environ 10 à 15 cm au-dessus du garde-boue. • Écarter délicatement les montants inférieurs jusqu'à leur position d’origine. 8 9 • Relever le guidon supérieur pour l'aligner avec le guidon inférieur.
Assemblage POSE DES FRAISES (suite) 4 5 6 • Lorsque l’axe ressort de l’autre côté du moyeu, il s’aligne parfaitement sur le trou en D. •P oser la fraise en enfilant le trou circulaire en premier sur l’axe. • Enfiler une goupille (T41) à travers le trou percé dans l'axe pour bloquer la fraise. • Répéter l’opération de l’autre côté. ASSEMBLAGE DE LA BÉQUILLE 1 (suite) 2 3 • Placer l'étrier de béquille juste au-dessus du cintrage au bas du guidon.
Plein et démarrage de la motobêche 4 temps PLEIN DE CARBURANT ET D'HUILE DE LA IMPORTANT ! Il est normal que le moteur 4 temps dégage de la fumée pendant les quelques premières minutes de marche, toutefois ce n'est par forcément toujours le cas. C'est le résultat de l'aspiration d'huile à travers le moteur à des fins de graissage. MOTOBÊCHE 4 TEMPS • Basculer la motobêche vers l’avant pour l’appuyer sur le réservoir d’essence.
Utilisation de la motobêche 4 temps ! AVERTISSEMENT Si le moteur ne s’arrête pas lorsque l’interrupteur est mis en position d’arrêt, relâcher la commande d’accélérateur et laisser le moteur tourner au ralenti. Poser la motobêche et pousser le levier du volet de départ jusqu'en position de démarrage à froid (fermé). Faire réparer le produit avant de l'utiliser.
Utilisation de la motobêche 4 temps (suite) ! AVERTISSEMENT ! AVERTISSEMENT Si les fraises sont coincées ou enchevêtrées, arrêter immédiatement le moteur. Retirer l’obstruction alors que le moteur est arrêté. Ne jamais tenter de retirer une obstruction avec le moteur en marche. Cela peut provoquer des blessures graves. L’utilisateur de cette motobêche est responsable des accidents ou des dangers qu’il fait courir aux autres ou à leurs biens.
Transport et entreposage de la motobêche 4 temps TRANSPORT DE LA MOTOBÊCHE 4 TEMPS La motobêche est facile à transporter. Elle est aussi légère et facile à porter à l'aide de la poignée de transport, comme sur la Figure 1. Ou bien, lorsqu'elle est en marche, appuyer légèrement sur la commande d'accélérateur de manière à la faire avancer à une vitesse de marche confortable. La motobêche est également facile à transporter à l'arrière d'une voiture ou d'un camion.
Entretien de la motobêche 4 temps La motobêche 4 temps nécessite un certain entretien de base pour bien fonctionner année après année. Si la motobêche doit être rangée pour la saison ou pour plus de 30 jours, il est très important de vidanger le réservoir de carburant afin de ne pas endommager le moteur. La motobêche va vraisemblablement être soumise à des travaux difficiles. Contrôler le niveau d'huile moteur, le filtre à air et le filtre à essence. Voir les détails dans le manuel du moteur Honda®.
Entretien de la motobêche 4 temps IMPORTANT : ENTRETIEN DU FILTRE À AIR Un filtre à air humide ou sale peut influer sur le démarrage, le fonctionnement et l’usure du moteur. Il est donc souhaitable de contrôler le filtre à air une fois par mois. En cas de conditions de travail poussiéreuses ou pour plus de sécurité, contrôler le filtre à air encore plus souvent (avant chaque utilisation, par exemple). Veiller à bien le changer au moins une fois par an, au printemps ou en automne.
Entretien de la motobêche 4 temps (suite) REMISE EN PLACE CORRECTE DE LA BRIDE Occasionnellement, il est possible que les fraises ne tournent pas lorsque la commande d'accélérateur est enfoncée. Il est possible que le moteur ne soit pas complètement engagé sur le carter de vis sans fin. Cela peut se produire après plusieurs années d'utilisation de la motobêche. Il se peut aussi que le moteur ait été déposé pour l'utiliser avec l’accessoire taille-haies, puis remis en place.
Dépannage Problème Cause Correction 1. L es fraises ne tournent pas lorsque l’accélérateur est enfoncé. • Le moteur n'est pas complètement engagé sur le carter de réducteur. • Remonter le moteur en suivant les instructions de la page 16 « Remise en place correcte de la bride ». 2. Le moteur ne démarre pas. • L’interrupteur de marche-arrêt O/I est sur la position « O ». • Le réservoir est vide. • Le filtre-tamis à carburant est obstrué. • La conduite de carburant est obstruée.
