Before Operating Your Rear Projection TV (Continued) Viewing The main feature of the Rear Projection TV is its large viewing screen. To be able to enjoy this large screen at its best, test the Rear Projection TV by placing it in various different parts of the room, in which it will be set, to find the ideal spot for viewing. It is best viewed by sitting directly in front of the Rear Projection TV and about 10 to 18 feet from the screen.
Antenna Connections • To fully utilize the various features provided, such as the 2-Tuner POP System, UNIVERSAL PLUS, and some connectors for high-quality VCR/DVD playback, set up this unit properly by following the procedures below. Universal Remote Control • The UNIVERSAL REMOTE CONTROL can be compatible with various VCR/DVD player and CATV converter brands by setting the correct control code.

EZ SETUP on First Power On When you turn on the Rear Projection TV for the first time, it automatically memorizes the broadcasting channels in your area. Closed Caption How to set Closed Caption • Your Rear Projection TV is equipped with an internal Closed Caption decoder. “Closed Caption” is a system which allows you to view conversations, narration, and sound effects in TV programs and home videos as subtitles on your Rear Projection TV screen. • Not all programs and videos offer closed caption. Please confirm whether the Closed Caption system mark signifies applies to the broadcast program or the video tape you are watching.

Setup (Continued) ENERGY SAVE This feature lets you lower the power consumption of your Rear Projection TV which in turn saves electricity and minimizes the impact on the environment. When this feature is turned on, it reduces the brightness of the Rear Projection TV to a level that consumes approximately 20 percent less energy than when the feature is turned off. The reduction in brightness will be less noticeable under low room lighting conditions.
Setup (Continued) CONVERGENCE ADJUST Your Rear Projection TV has three color projection tubes: one for red, one for green, one for blue. When mixed together in the proper proportion, the output of these three color tubes can produce any color. To produce these colors, however, the beams must be precisely aligned over each other so that the colors can be mixed. The process of aligning these picture beams is called “convergence”.

Using the Video and Audio Input Jacks ■ Connecting video equipment for video playback • When the television is connected to video equipment as shown below, the material being played back on the video equipment can be seen on the television screen. Using the Audio Output Jacks These jacks are used for connecting a standard studio amplifier. Control of STEREO/MONO/SAP, BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE, VOLUME and MUTE is retained at the Rear Projection TV. These jacks relay the audio signals of all programs being displayed on the Rear Projection TV screen.
