Informationen zum Vorbild Zur Modernisierung des schnellen Personenverkehrs benötigten die Niederländischen Staatsbahnen Mitte der 1970er-Jahre neues Material. In dem dicht besiedelten Land sind flexibel einsetzbare Züge notwendig, um den Verkehr in den Ballungszentren zu bewältigen. Somit wurden ab 19771994 insgesamt 144 Triebwagen, die Familie der Koploper, in Dienst gestellt, die an Haltepunkten schnell und leicht zu trennen und zu kuppeln sind.
