WARNING! • Refer servicing to a qualified technician. • To prevent fire or shock hazard, do not expose this module to moisture. • Turn the amplifier off should any abnormal conditions occur. • Do not drive speaker beyond its rated power. The lightning bolt flash with arrowhead symbol within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of uninsulated “dangerous voltage” within the product’s enclosure that may be of sufficient magnitude to constitute a risk of electric shock.

Connection For convenience during the installation process, Statement 40XW has binding posts on both the top and bottom of the enclosure. CONNECT TO ONLY 1 SET OF BINDING POSTS. WARNING! Turn your amplifier off before making or breaking any signal connections! These speakers are designed with easy-to-use push-style binding posts that accept bare wire (fig. 1). Assign the same color to the (+) and (–) terminals on both the speaker and the amplifier. Make sure that all connections are tight. Fig.
Painting the Speaker Grille IMPORTANT! The Statement 40XW grille is packaged with the driver assembly (STATE40XW) and not in the same packaging as the install kit. The speaker includes an extra scrim. 1. Remove the grille from the speaker. A protective cloth scrim is attached to the back of the grille with a low-tack adhesive. Remove this scrim by gently pulling it away from the grille and discard it. 2. Paint the grille, being careful not to plug the holes.
Pre-Installation Checklist NOTE: These instructions assume the mounting surface is of standard wood frame and conventional sheetrock construction. If you wish to mount the speakers to another type of material, you should contact a bonded contractor. NOTE: See your local dealer for new construction preinstall brackets (sold separately). WARNING! Before installing check local building codes to verify compliance with local regulations. WARNING! Before installing check for obstructions behind drywall.

Installation STEP 1: CRUCIAL STEP! ATTACHING THE BOTTOM BRACKET 1a Mark the desired bracket height from the floor on the studs. 1b Ensure the bracket is level using the attached bubble level. Once level, attach the bracket to the studs with (4) included wood screws. Metal studs will require different screws that are not included. 1c Apply (1) spacer to the top of the bracket as shown, by peeling the backer off of the attached adhesive tape.
STEP 2: BACK BOX PREPARATION 2a Carefully remove the back box from its packaging. Confirm the proper orientation of the back box using the diagram on the positioning board: LC UP = LEFT CHANNEL UP RC UP = RIGHT CHANNEL UP 2b With the correct orientation pointing upwards, seat the remaining bracket on the top of the back box by guiding the locating pins on the back box into the holes in the top bracket.
STEP 3: BACK BOX INSTALLATION 3a With the correct orientation pointing upwards, lift the back box and seat it into the holes in the bottom bracket spacer using the locating pins for alignment. 3b Carefully push the back box into the stud bay. Please ensure the top bracket can sit flush against the studs just like the bottom bracket. A helper should now hold the back box in place to complete the next step.
STEP 4: CONNECT SPEAKER WIRE TO TOP OR BOTTOM BINDING POSTS 4a Connect the speaker wire to either the top binding posts OR bottom binding posts. The in wall back box has binding posts on the top and bottom for ease of connection only. Statement 40XW requires that only 1 connection be made. DO NOT CONNECT AN AMPLIFIER CHANNEL TO BOTH THE TOP AND BOTTOM, USE ONLY 1.
STEP 5: POSITIONING THE INSTALL BOARD 5a Carefully remove the install board from its packaging. Ensure the install board thickness matches that of the intended wall surface. Both 1/2” and 5/8” kits are available. 5b Position the install board on the back box by seating the positioning brackets into the pockets on the positioning board. Ensure all brackets are fully seated and touching the bottom of their respective pockets.
STEP 6: SECURING THE INSTALL BOARD 6a Secure the install board to the studs through the 12 slots indicated above using the (12) included wood screws. Metal studs will require different screws that are not included.
STEP 7: CRUCIAL STEP! ADJUSTING THE INSTALL BOARD 7a The adjustment blocks on the install board allow for fine tuning of the speaker opening, ensuring perfect alignment of the finished installation. To lock in the desired install board adjustments, tighten the 12 adjustment blocks hand-tight with a Phillips screw driver. 7b You may need to push in and hold down an adjustment bracket so it sits flush in it’s pocket while tightening the adjustment blocks.
STEP 8: ATTACH SHEET ROCK CLIPS 8a Attach the included sheetrock clips to the install board in the 14 recessed locations around the perimeter. Ensure the “fingers” are facing forward. 8b Drive (1) included sheet rock screw through the face of the install board and into the sheet rock clip for each location as shown.
STEP 9: HANG THE SHEET ROCK 9a Hang the sheet rock on the stud wall. The opening around the Fiberock® install board can be measured and cut before application. Alternatively, sheet rock can be loosely hung over the install board and then an opening cut with a drywall saw using the perimeter of the install board as a guide. If using this method, avoid cutting into the sheet rock clips. NOTE:The surfaces of the sheet rock and install board will not be on the same plane.
STEP 10: MATING SHEET ROCK TO THE INSTALL BOARD 10a After securing the sheet rock to the studs as per normal construction, mate the install board to the surrounding sheet rock by driving a screw through the sheet rock into the other end of the sheet rock clip behind it. For easy reference, the clips will be directly across from the locations used in step 8. 10b When bridging the joint in two pieces of sheet rock, be sure to secure both to the clip. Example shown in the magnified insert above.
STEP 11: BREAK OFF DRYWALL CLIP FINGERS 11a Snap off the drywall clip fingers using a back and forth motion as shown in the figure below.
STEP 12: SHEET ROCK FINISHING PREPARATION 12a Apply mesh sheet rock tape to joints and slots as indicated in the diagram. WARNING: Mesh sheet rock tape is required. Do not use traditional paper sheetrock tape.
STEP 13: SHEET ROCK FINISHING PART 1 - JOINT COMPOUND APPLICATION 13a Apply quick 45 minute joint compound to the install board. As noted in Step 9, the sheet rock will be sitting proud of the install board surface. Apply joint compound to the face of the install board, bringing it up level with the sheet rock. Be sure to fill in the connecting sheet rock sheet joints 13b After the compound has cured, sand in preparation for the lightweight coat.
STEP 14: SHEET ROCK FINISHING PART 2 LIGHTWEIGHT APPLICATION 14a Apply a coat of lightweight sheet rock mud. Make sure to float this coat out further than the previous joint compound coat, creating a smooth gradual transition between the install area and the surrounding wall surface. 14b After this coat has cured, begin the final sand. Touch up/reapply mud as necessary. NOTE: The sheet metal face of the install board must be exposed.
STEP 15: PAINTING TIPS 15a To make the painting process easier, all of the exposed areas in this step can be painted over. If spraying instead of rolling paint, please avoid applying paint directly into the gap between the install board and the positioning board. 15b (Optional) If you desire a grille color other than white, paint the speaker grille at this time if you have not already done so. (The speaker grille is packaged with the driver assembly of the Statement 40XW.
The installation of the in wall back box is now complete. You may now proceed to the installation of the Statement 40XW driver assembly. The instruction manual for that portion of the installation is included with the STATE40XW driver assembly.

Raccordement Pour faciliter le processus d’installation, Statement 40XW est munie de piquets de fixation en haut et en bas du boîtier. Raccordez à un seul ensemble de bornes. AVERTISSEMENT ! Éteignez votre amplificateur avant d’établir ou d’interrompre toute connexion de signal ! Ces haut-parleurs sont conçus avec des bornes de raccordement faciles à utiliser, de type poussoir, qui acceptent le fil nu (fig. 1). Attribuez la même couleur aux bornes (+) et (-) du hautparleur et de l’amplificateur.
Peindre la grille du haut-parleur IMPORTANT ! La grille Statement 40XW est livrée avec l’ensemble pilote (STATE40XW) et non dans le même emballage que le kit d’installation. Le haut-parleur comprend une doublure supplémentaire. 1. Retirez la grille du haut-parleur. Un tissu de protection est fixé à l’arrière de la grille avec un adhésif peu collant. Retirez ce tissu en l’éloignant doucement de la grille et jetez-le. 2. Peindre la grille, en faisant attention à ne pas obstruer les trous.
Pré-installation de la check-list NOTE : Ces instructions partent du principe que la surface de montage est constituée d’un cadre en bois standard et d’une construction classique en cloison sèche. Si vous souhaitez monter les haut-parleurs sur un autre type de surface, vous devez contacter un entrepreneur agréé. NOTE : Consultez votre revendeur local pour les supports de pré-installation pour les nouvelles constructions (vendus séparément).

Installation ÉTAPE 1 : ÉTAPE CRUCIALE ! FIXATION DU SUPPORT INFÉRIEUR 1a Marquez la hauteur du crochet souhaitée par rapport au sol sur les poteaux. 1b Assurez-vous que le support est de niveau en utilisant le niveau à bulle ci-joint. Une fois à niveau, fixez le support aux montants à l’aide des (4) vis à bois fournies. Les poteaux métalliques nécessiteront différentes vis qui ne sont pas incluses.
ÉTAPE 2 : PRÉPARATION DU BOITIER ARRIÈRE 2a Carefully remove the back box from its packaging. Confirm the proper orientation of the back box using the diagram on the positioning board: LC UP = CANAL GAUCHE VERS LE HAUT RC UP = CANAL DROIT VERS LE HAUT 2b Avec la bonne orientation vers le haut, placez le crochet restant sur le dessus du boîtier arrière en guidant les broches d’alignement du boîtier arrière dans les trous du crochet supérieur.
ÉTAPE 3: INSTALLATION DU BOITIER ARRIÈRE 3a Avec la bonne orientation vers le haut, soulevez le boîtier et placez-le dans les trous de l’entretoise du bas en utilisant les broches pour l’alignement. 3b Avec la bonne orientation vers le haut, soulevez le boîtier et placez-le dans les trous de l’entretoise du bas en utilisant les broches pour l’alignement. 3c While the back box is being held in place, ensure the top bracket is seated down firmly on the top of the back box.
ÉTAPE 4 : CONNECTEZ LE FIL DU HAUT-PARLEUR AUX BORNES DE FIXATION SUPÉRIEURES OU INFÉRIEURES 4a Connectez le fil du haut-parleur aux bornes supérieures OU aux bornes inférieures. Le boîtier mural arrière comporte des bornes en haut et en bas pour faciliter la connexion uniquement. Le Statement 40XW exige qu’une seule connexion soit effectuée. NE PAS CONNECTER UN CANAL D’AMPLIFICATEUR SIMULTANÉMENT EN HAUT ET EN BAS, UTILISER SEULEMENT 1.
ÉTAPE 5: POSITIONNEMENT DU PANNEAU D’INSTALLATION 5a Retirez avec précaution le panneau d’installation de son emballage. Assurez-vous que l’épaisseur du panneau d’installation correspond à celle de la surface murale prévue. Des kits 1/2” et 5/8” sont disponibles. 5b Positionnez le panneau d’installation sur le boîtier arrière en plaçant les supports de positionnement dans les poches du panneau de positionnement.
ÉTAPE 6 : SÉCURISATION DU PANNEAU D’INSTALLATION 6a Fixez le panneau d’installation aux travées à l’aide des 12 fentes indiquées ci-dessus et des (12) vis à bois fournies. Les travées métalliques nécessiteront différentes vis qui ne sont pas incluses.
ÉTAPE 7 : ÉTAPE CRUCIALE ! AJUSTEZ LE PANNEAU D’INSTALLATION 7a Les blocs de réglage sur le panneau d’installation permettent de régler avec précision l’ouverture du haut-parleur, assurant ainsi un alignement parfait de l’installation terminée. Pour verrouiller les réglages souhaités du panneau d’installation, serrez les 12 blocs de réglage à la main avec un tournevis Phillips.
ÉTAPE 8 : FIXATION DES PINCES DE CLOISON SÈCHE 8a Fixez les pinces de cloison sèche incluses au panneau d’installation dans les 14 emplacements en retrait autour du périmètre. Assurez-vous que les “doigts” sont tournés vers l’avant. 8b Enfoncez la vis de la cloison sèche fournie à travers la face du panneau d’installation puis dans la pince de la cloison sèche pour chaque emplacement, comme indiqué.
ÉTAPE 9 : ACCROCHER LA CLOISON SÈCHE 9a Accrochez la cloison sèche sur le montant. L’ouverture autour de la plaque d’installation Fiberock® peut être mesurée et découpée avant l’application. Une autre solution consiste à accrocher la plaque de cloison sèche sur le panneau d’installation, puis découper l’ouverture à l’aide d’une scie à cloisons sèches en utilisant le périmètre du panneau d’installation comme guide. Si vous utilisez cette méthode, évitez de couper à travers les pinces de la cloison sèche.
ÉTAPE 10 : ASSEMBLAGE DE LA CLOISON SÈCHE AU PANNEAU D’INSTALLATION 10a Après avoir fixé la cloison sèche aux poteaux selon la méthode de construction normale, assemblez le panneau d’installation à la cloison sèche environnante en enfonçant une vis à travers la cloison sèche jusqu’à l’autre extrémité de la pince de la cloison sèche derrière celle-ci. Pour faciliter la navigation, les pinces seront placées directement en face des emplacements utilisés à l’étape 8.
ÉTAPE 11 : CASSEZ LES DOIGTS DE LA PINCE DE CLOISONS SÈCHES 11a Cassez les doigts de la pince à cloisons sèches en effectuant un mouvement de va-et-vient, comme le montre la figure ci-dessous.
ÉTAPE 12 : PRÉPARATION DE LA FINITION DE LA CLOISON SÈCHE 12a Appliquez un ruban de cloison sèche sur les joints et les fentes comme indiqué dans le schéma. AVERTISSEMENT : Un ruban de cloison sèche en maille est nécessaire. Ne pas utiliser un ruban adhésif traditionnel en papier de cloison sèche.
ÉTAPE 13 : FINITION DE LA CLOISON SÈCHE PARTIE 1 - APPLICATION DU COMPOSÉ DE JOINTURE 13a Appliquez un composé de joint rapide de 45 minutes sur le panneau d’installation. Comme indiqué à l’étape 9, la cloison sèche sera légèrement en relief par rapport à la surface du panneau d’installation. Appliquez le mastic de jointoiement sur la face du panneau d’installation, en l’amenant au niveau de la plaque de cloison sèche.
ÈTAPE 14 : FINITION DE LA CLOISON SÈCHE PARTIE 2 - APPLICATION LÉGÈRE 14a Appliquez une couche légère de boue de cloison sèche. Veillez à faire déborder cette couche plus que la précédente couche de pâte à joint, en créant une transition progressive et lisse entre la zone d’installation et la surface du mur environnant. 14b Une fois que cette couche a durci, commencez le sablage final. Retouchez et appliquez de la boue si nécessaire. NOTE : La face métallique du panneau d’installation doit être exposée.
ÈTAPE 15 : ASTUCES DE PEINTURE 15a Pour faciliter le processus de peinture, il est possible de repeindre toutes les zones exposées lors de cette étape. Si vous pulvérisez la peinture au lieu de la rouler, évitez d’appliquer la peinture directement dans l’espace entre le tableau d’installation et le tableau de positionnement. 15b (Facultatif) Si vous souhaitez une couleur de grille autre que le blanc, vous pouvez peindre la grille du haut-parleur à ce moment si ce n’est pas déjà fait.
L’installation du boîtier mural est maintenant terminée. Vous pouvez maintenant procéder à l’installation de l’ensemble haut-parleurs Statement 40XW. Le manuel d’instruction pour cette partie de l’installation est inclus avec l’ensemble haut-parleurs STATE40XW.
