CONCRETE BLOCK
by
Sand Mix
Menards Sku# 189-1043
Sand mix is for topping and repairing concrete surfaces
less than 2" thick.
Thick beds of ceramic oor tile
Filling cores in masonry block walls
Chimney caps
For applications 1"-2" (25.4-51 mm) thick. Use specifed
bonding agents.
For applications less than 1" (25.4 mm) thick, use specied
mixture.
Product Description
Sand mix consists of a uniformly blended mixture of
sand and Portland cement as well as other ingredients
approved for use in high strength mortars
Product Use
Machine Mixing Instructions
Installation
Empty concrete bags into a suitable mixing container.
Add approximately 1/2 gallon (2.8 L) of clean water
for each 60 lb (27.2 kg) bag.
Work the mix with a shovel, rake or hoe and add
water as needed until a stiff, moldable consistency is
achieved.
Be sure all material is wet. Do not leave standing
puddles.
Hand Mixing Instructions
Weight-Unit: 60 lb (27.2kg)
Pallet Quantity: 63/Pallet
Yield: Approximately 0.45 cu ft (12.7L)
Bagging Specications
Sand Mix can be mixed by hand or machine.
Choose the mixer size most appropriate for the size
of the job to be done. Allow at least ¾ cu ft (21 L) of
mixer capacity for each 60 lb (27.2 kg) bag of Concrete
Mix to be mixed at one time.
Add approximately 3 quarts (2.8L) of clean water
for each 60 lb (27.2kg) bag of sand mix and mix
thoroughly.
Pro-tip: For resurfacing less than 1" thick, replace ½ of
the mixing water with 1.5 quarts (1.4 L) Acrylic Bonding
Additive per 60 lb bag or Sand Mix. Acrylic Bonding
Additive will improve the binding strength between old
and new concrete.
If more water is needed to obtain a rm, workable
mix, add small amounts at a time and continue to
mix until the desired consistency is achieved. Do not
exceed a total volume of 4 ½ quarts (4.3 L) of water
for each 60 lb (27.2 kg) bag.
Pro-Tip: For resurfacing 1"-2" remove all broken and
loose concrete to establish a clean and solid base. Power
washing the area is recommended. After the area is free
of debris and is dry, apply a coat of Acrylic Bonding
Additive and let dry. Now you are ready to resurface
with Sand Mix.
