MEASURING THE TEMPERATURE
1. Press the measurement trigger "8" and point the laser on the spot to be measured.
2. While the measurement trigger "8" is pressed, the temperature is measured and
displayed. "SCAN" is shown on the display "3."
3. After releasing the trigger "8" the last measured temperature is indicated on the display
"3" and the laser is switched OFF.
4. To obtain the most accurate measurement, please note the following:
a. The determined temperature is the average temperature of the measured area.
The farther away from the object being measured that the laser is, the larger the
area of the object that will be sampled. See figure below.
mm
inch
b. The target object must be larger than the measuring surface of the device. The
smaller the target object is, the less the distance between appliance and target
object must be.
c. Select the smallest possible distance to the surface being measured.
d. Aim the device as perpendicular as possible to the surface being measured.
e. Do not measure in dusty, smoky or steamy atmosphere.
f. Do not measure through transparent materials, such as glass or plastic.
g. In the event of extreme temperature fluctuations allow the device to adjust to the
ambient climatic conditions for about 30 minutes before measuring.

INSERTING/REPLACING THE BATTERY
The Infrared Thermometer operates using a 9 volt battery .
1. Open the battery compartment "7" on the side of the handle.
2. Insert battery, complying with the specified polarities given on the battery into the battery
compartment "7".
3. Close the battery compartment cover.
4. A battery icon "9" appears in the display "3" when the battery voltage is low.
INITIATING INFRARED THERMOMETER
Hold the handle of the Infrared Thermometer so that the index finger can operate the
measurement trigger
"8" and the thumb can operate the button "4" - "6".
SWITCHING INFRARED THERMOMETER ON/OFF
1. Press the measurement trigger "8" to switch the device ON. The display "3" lights up
and a brief signal tone is heard.
2. Press and hold the C/F button "5" for approximately 3 seconds to switch the device OFF,
two brief signal tones will be heard.
3. If the device in not currently in use, the back light of the display "3" switches off after
approximately
15 seconds. After approximately 60 seconds the device switches OFF
automatically, two short signal tones will be heard.
SELECTION OF TEMPERATURE UNIT
After switching ON, the default temperature unit is shown as degrees Celsius (°C).
1. Briefly press the C/F button "5" to switch to the unit of degrees Fahrenheit (°F).
2. Briefly press the C/F button "5" again to switch back to the unit of degrees Celsius (
0
C).
INDICATING TEMPERATURE DEVIATION
A temperature deviation is the difference between a predetermine reference value and a
measured temperature. The deviations are shown as colored indicator on the display
"3". In
addition, they will also be pointed out by an acoustic signal.
SETTING REFERENCES VALUES
1. Press the measurement trigger "8" and point the laser on the spot to be referenced.
The temperature is shown on the display
"3".
4
2. Press and hold the measurement trigger "8", the C/F button "5" to accept the temperature
value as a reference value. The reference temperature is shown on the display
"3" next to
the indicator "REF".
SELECTION OF TEMPERATURE DELTA
On the device you can now set at which temperature difference (L'IT) the color display and
the acoustic signal should respond.
1. Press, while the reference value is being shown on the display "3", the right button "4" or
the button "6" to set the desired temperature difference (L'IT).
----
SCANNING A TEMPERATURE DEVIATION
1. Press the measurement trigger "8'' and point the laser at the spot to be measured.
The temperature is shown on the display "3".
2. While scanning, hold the measurement trigger "8" down and move the laser dot slowly and
continuously over the surface to be measured. The temperature deviations between the
reference and measurement values are presented as follow.
