A water softener contains resin beads which hold electrically charged ions. When hard water passes through the softener, calcium and magnesium ions are attracted to the charged resin beads.

This button has two functions. The first is to initiate a manual regeneration by holding the button for 3 or more seconds.

During regeneration, hard water is automatically bypassed for use in the household. Hot water should be used as little as possible during this time to prevent hard water from filling the wa- ter heater.

It is important to maintain the salt level above the water level. To add salt, simply lift the salt lid and add the salt directly into the brine tank. Be sure the brine well cover is on and fill only to the height of the brine well.

Using a screwdriver, remove the two screws holding the injector cover to the control valve body. Carefully remove the assembly and disassemble as shown in Figure 6.
