Double-Sided disabled. Since the
normal is facing away from the
wind, the wind is unable to exert
a force on the surface.
Double-Sided enabled. This
guarantees that a normal will
face the wind and hence the
wind is now able to exert a force
on the surface.
Double-Sided disabled. The wing
is experiencing a lifting force.
Double-Sided enabled, causing
equal and opposite forces for
each surface and hence no
resultant force. For this reason,
Double-Sided should be disabled
for closed polygons.
Lift
This setting denes the strength of lift. When an airstream passes over a surface,
the air pressure will drop. The faster this airstream, the lower the pressure. When
designing a wing, the wing must be shaped so that the air stream will pass over one
wing surface more quickly than over the other wing surface. This will create a pressure
gradient, causing the wing to experience a lifting force.
