5.1.3. Set Inverse Multiplexer („Format“)
If a data stream is greater than the capacity of a transmission channel, it is then necessary
to use two or even more ISDN B channels to ensure delay-free transmission. The
transmitter must therefore split the data over the individual B channels and the receiver
must put them back together again properly after the transmission. In the context of MPEG
coded audio signals this procedure is often called inverse multiplexing (IMUX).
There are several different procedures for inverse multiplexing. The Merk II supports the
international standard J.52 and the proprietary procedures of various manufacturers.
If you know exactly which device is on the receiving end, you can pre-set this device at the
multiplexer. The Merk II ís however able to recognize the opposite station automatically
and set itselve accordingly.
To set the multiplexer, proceed as follows:
(a) Via the front panel
• Select the SETUP option in the Start mask (see Figure 4). The Setup mask appears.
• Select AUDIO ENCODER or AUDIO DECODER and press . The following mask
appears:

• Advance to the FORMAT line with the help of the and keys.
• Press the key. A list of possible selections appears.
• Select one of these options with the and
keys and save the desired value by
pressing the key.
• End the setting by pressing .
(b) Via the remote control software:
• Select SETTINGS CODEC. The following dialog window opens:

• Select the desired option under ENCODER FORMAT.
• Click on ”OK” to save.
