7.4.4. Executing HTTP Command Files
The execution of the command file can be activated by any web client or media player
which is part of the net. The following structure must be used:
http://[Merk II-address or name]/[command file-name. exten-
sion(irrelevant)]
Example:
http://10.0.0.255/stream.mp3
http:// Merk II Exa/stream.wav
http//Merk II-address or name/ activates a search in the www folder of the addressed Merk
II. The name of the command file is only significant for searching. The extension only de-
fines how the data should be interpreted. This option makes it possible to execute different
formats from any web browser, which is important for HTML programming.
Example: An HTTP request to STREAM1.mp2, STREAM1.wav or STREAM1.mp3 from a
web browser is executed by the web server by the STREAM1.htm HTTP command file.
All HTTP requests start an audio stream/encoder with the requested parameter, if no other
audio stream/encoder is currently active. After the last HTTP request has been executed
by the web client/player, the audio stream/encoder is stopped.
7.5. Establishing IP connections
7.5.1. Unicast RTP
Unicast RTP connections can be established by CENTAURI’s of type 300x, 330x, 400x,
MERKII and GANYMED’s 1102 using system software version 2.0.0.132 (or later).
RTP (=Realtime Transport Protocol) protocol bases on UDP (= User Datagram Protocol).
Therefore the RTP implementation of MERK II / CENTAURI II is an enhancement of the
UDP implementation. In opposite to the pure UDP implementation RTP guarantees the
right sequence of packets at the receiver side.
RTP supports the following features:
- payload-type identification
- sequence numbering
- time stamping
- source identification
· RTP is implemented according to rfc 3550 (www.ietf.org/rfc/rfc3550.txt).
If possible RTP is the recommended IP-transmission method between establishing sides
(MERK II / CENTAURI II).
1. Unidirectional RTP connections
Unidirectional IP connections between two establishing sides (MERK II / CENTAURI II)
can established by the following steps:
1.1 Codec Settings
Configure the codec settings via menu item Settings/Codec (valid for both establishing
sides (MERK II / CENTAURI II)):
· Interface: IP
· Encoder dependeny: Remote
· Decoder dependency: Remote
The establishing establishing sides (MERK II / CENTAURI II) determines the algorithm, the
sample rate, the bit rate and the mode of the transmission.
