Creating and Configuring Scheduled Tasks
214 Dr Solomon’sAnti-Virus
• Open the online help file. Choose Help Topics from the Help menu, or
click in the Console toolbar to see a list of Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus
help topics. You can also right-click most dialog box buttons, lists, menus,
and other items to reveal context-sensitive help topics. Choose the What's
This? item that appears when youright-click insidea dialog box tosee the
help topic. To learn more about Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus documentation,
see “What comes with Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus?” on page 33.
• ViewanActivityLog.Select one ofthetaskslistedinthe Consolewindow,
thenchooseView Activity Log fromtheTask menu.Notall taskswillhave
anassociatedlogfile,but Dr Solomon’sAnti-Viruswill openthelogfile for
those thatdoin aNotepad window.Youcan print, edit, copy,orotherwise
treat thisfile as you would any ordinarytextfile.To learnmore aboutwhat
information each log file records, see Chapter 4, “Using the WinGuard
Scanner,” and Chapter 5, “Using the Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus
application.”
• Protect tasks with a password. Select any ofthe tasks listed in the Console
window except the VShield task, then choose Password Protect Task
from the Task menu to open the Specify Password dialog box. Enter a
password of up to 20 characters in the text box provided, then enter the
same password again in the text box below. Click OK to close the dialog
box.
Whenever you oranyoneelse triesto configure task properties forthe task
you protected, the Console will ask for the password you specified.
Choosing this optiongives you thesameresultsas selecting thePassword
protect this task checkbox in the Task Properties dialog box.
• Start Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus Console automatically. Choose Load at
Startup fromthe View menutohavetheDrSolomon’sAnti-VirusConsole
start whenever you start your computer. the Console has this option
enabled by default. Because it must be running in order to execute any
tasks you have scheduled, you should choose to have theConsole start
automatically so that your scheduled tasks will begin at their appointed
times.
You can also control this option from the Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus control
panel. To learn more about how to use the control panel, see
“Understanding the Dr Solomon’s Anti-Virus control panel” on page 301.
• Display the Console system tray icon.ChooseShow System Tray Icon
from the View menu to have the Console display this icon in the
Windowssystemtray.Double-clickingthisiconbringstheConsole
window to the foreground. Right-clicking the icon displays a shortcut
menu.
