Deleting a backup set
If you created a Safe & Sound backup set as a pro tected volume file, y ou
cannot deleteit in My Computer or Windows Explorer. You can only delete the
protected volume file using Safe & Sound.
Ifyouc reateda Safe &Sound backupset asad irectory,youshould stilldelete
it using Safe & Sound; however, you can also d e le te the backup directory via
My Computer o r Windows Explo rer .
To delete a backup set:
1. Start Safe & Sound.
2. C lick Next > while the D elete a B ack up Set r adio button is select ed.
3. Se le ct the backup set to de lete and click Finis h. Then click Yes to c onfirm
the deletion.
Repairing and rebuilding a backup set
Ifyouencounterap r oblemw iththebackupsetitself,youcanrepairorrebuild
it.For example, if your computer crashesw hile the backup is being createdor
updatedautomatically,thebackup’scontentsma ybeincompleteordamaged.
Safe & Sound automatically c hecks the backup’s integrity when you start
Windows. If it is damaged,Safe & Sound s tartsand asks if you want to repair
thebackupset.
To repair or rebuild a backup set:
1. Start McAfee Utilities Safe & So und ut ility and click Next > while the
Rep air or Rebuild Backup Set radio bu tton is selected.
2. Do one of the fo llowing:
Click the Repair button and click Ne xt > if you can see the ba ckup
set in My Computeror Windows Explorer,but the information is
somehowdamaged. For example, if a backup was not finished due
to a power outage or computer crash.
Click the Rebuild button and click Next > if you can no longer see
the ba ckup set (for example if the protected volume file is no lo nger
visible in My C omputer or Windows Explorer).
