About McAfee Firewall
McAfee F irewall is a personal firewall that lets you monitor, control and log
your PC's network activity. It protects you from Internet hackers and keeps
your PC private.
McAfe e Firewall:
• Stops fileshare and printshare access attempts.
• Shows who is connecting (i.e., if you allow sharing)
• Stopsfloodsandotherattackpackets frombeingreceivedbytheOperating
System.
• Blocks untrusted applications from communicating over the network.
• Detectshiddenprograms("trojans")thatcangiveremoteaccesstoyour PC
or revea l private inform ation (e.g. online b anking info rmation).
• Provides detailed information about which sites you have contacted and
the typ e of connection that was m ad e
• Blocks all traffic while you are away, and your PC is connected 24 hours a
day.
How McAfee Firewall works
McAfee Firewall is a simple-to-operate security tool for t he non -technical
users. Itdynamically manages your computing security behind the scenes, so
that you do not even have to understand networking protocols. It is custom
created at the moment it is needed, and only as needed, as you go o n to do
something else on your computer.
McAfeeFirewallfilterstrafficatthedevicesthatyoursystemuses-network
cards a nd modems. This means that it can reject inbound traffic before that
traffic can reach vital functions in your PC and before it c an waste valuable
system resources.
It monitors applicatio ns that a re eithe r trusted or not trusted. When trusted
applications need to access a netw ork, it manages everything in the computer
to a llow that applic ation's t ra ffic. When it detects non-trus ted applications
trying to access a network, it blocks alltraffic to and from that application.
