Using SpaceMaker

SpaceMaker in the U nInstaller screen and t ell the SpaceMaker w izard how
much space you want, what kind of file s it can delete, and whether you w ant
it to ma ke compressed backup copies of the files. Then let it free space for you .
NOTE: By default, fi les are bac ked up before they are deleted. The
compressed backup useslessdiskspacethan the deleted files, and gives
you a chance to r ecover deleted files later. E ach time you run t he
SpaceMaker wizard, you c an turn off backups or spec ify a different
location for the backups.
Choose the SpaceMaker wizard to:
• Quickly create free space on one of your drives.
You can specify the drive and the amount of space yo u want to free. As
soon as SpaceMaker frees the s pec ified am ount of space, it s tops deleting
files. If you c hoose to free as much space as possib le , the wizard co ntinues
to de lete files until it can f ind no more file s that are old enough to de le te in
the categories y ou have chosen.
• Delete files from more categories than QuickClean.
SpaceMaker lets you d elete files that some us ers migh t need, such as
bitmap and multimedia file s, backup files that ha ve the .BAK e xtension,
tempo rary files that Windows o r Win dows applicatio ns generate, screen
savers, online help files, and so on.
