Using Transport
Use the Transport w izard to package an entire application an d its
configuration settings so that you can rebuild the application wit h e xactly t he
same option settings on a d ifferent computer. To start the Transport wizard,
click Transport in the UnInsta ller window.
You can also include associated data files i n the Transport package. For
example, if you are transporting your spreadsheet program from your work
computer toyourl aptop computer,y ou caninclude thespreadsheetsthat you
hav e cr eated.
To recreate th e application, run the pac kage file fr om the new computer, as
described in the ne xt sec tion, “How do I reb uild a transported a pplication on
another computer?”
WARNING:Ma ke sure thatthe application license pe rm its you to r un a
copy of the appli cation on m ore th an one c o mputer. Some application
licences now permit you to use a single copy of the application on more
than one computer as long as only one computer is in use at a time.
Choose the Transport wizard to:
Create a copy of an application on a different c omputer.
The Transport wizard creates a compressed file that contains an entire
application, including its option and Registry se tting information. You can
use this file to rebu ild an application with the same settings on your office
and laptop computers.
Move an application t o a new computer.
Avoid time-consuming application setup w hen yo u buy a new c omputer.
Use the Transport wizard to reinstall your old applic ations with the same
option settings.
How do I rebuild a transported application on another
computer?
An a pplication that you p ackage with the Transport wizard can be rebuilt on
anothercomputerthatcanaccessthed iskorthenetworkwhereyoustoredthe
Transport package file, and that is running W indows 9 5 or later. Simply
double -clickt henameoftheTrans portpackagefileinaWindowsExp lorerfile
list, and follow instructions that appear on the screen.
