In some cases, the color code is determined by your default settings. For
exam ple, if you specify that files of a specifictype in a specific location shou ld
never b e deleted, t hose files are mar ked with a red circle.
Changing the defaults for the PowerClean feature
If yo u have started the PowerClean feature and are working i n the
PowerClean dialog box, click Settings on the Options menu. The Settings
dialog box opens with the PowerClean page open.
Descriptions of Po werClean color codes
Code Description
Red circle with a
diagonal line across it
Files marked wit h this code are necessary for your
computer to run correctly.
You cannot delete t hese files from the P ow erClean
dialog box.
Red circle Critical files used by applications, and f iles that are
not old enough to be deleted.
The original default is set to p revent you f rom
deleting these files. We strongly recommend that
you keep this default setting. Files used by
applications should never b e deleted.
To change the age files must reach before they can
be deleted,change the accessed and/or modified
age specified in the Settings dialog box.
Yellow square Important files.
These files mig h t be used b y a pplications on your
computer. They might also be linked to
applications o n a removable disk that is not
currently available.
Read information in the Advice tab before you
delete these filesandmake sure that deleting them
will not cause operating system or ap plication
problems.
Green triangle Files that arenot important totheo peratingsystem
or applications.
They might b e very important to you, however.
Make sure that you know what they are used for
before you delete them, and create backups in case
you need them a ga in.
