8PGP Personal Privacy
The PGP Personal Privacy secures and protects the privacy of your data by
encrypting it so that only the intended individuals can read it. You can also
sign information digitally to ensures it ’s authenticity.

PGP is a security software ap p lication that enables you and your co-workers
to exchange or storei nformation securely,so thatno one else can read it. One
of the most convenient w ays to use P GP is through one of the popular email
applications supported by the PGP plug-ins. W ith these plug-ins, you c a n
encrypt and s ign as well a s decrypt a nd verify your messages while you are
comp osing and reading your mail with a sim ple click of a bu tton. If you are
usinga nemailapplicationthatis notsupportedbyt heplug-ins ,youcaneasily
encrypt the text of the message using PGPtray. In addition, if you need to
encrypt ordecrypt fileattachments,you c ando so directlyfrom theWindows
clipboard by choosing the appr opriate menu option. You can also use PGP to
encrypt and sign files on the harddisk ofyo ur computer for secure storage, to
securely wipe files from your hard disk and to wipe free disk space so that
sensitive data can’t be retrieved wit h disk recovery software.
