PGP Personal Privacy
Getting Help
When you choose Help from the PGP menu or window, you access the PGP
online Help system, which provides a general overview and instructions for
all of the procedures you a re likely to perform. Many of the dialog bo xes also
hav e context -sensitivehelp,whichyouaccessbyclickingthequestionmarkin
therightcorner ofthe window andthen pointingto thearea ofintereston the
screen . A short explanation appears.
Quitting PGP
By default, the PGPtray program runs whenever you start your computer, as
indicatedbythe lockicondisplayedin theSystem tray. Ifforsomereason you
need to quit running PGPtray, you can do so by choosing Exit PGPtray from
the PG P pop-up menu.
From supported email applications
If you have one of these popular email applications supported by the PGP
plug-ins, you can access the necessary PGP functions by clicking the
appropriate buttons in your applica tio n’s toolb ar:
• Qualcomm Eudora
•MicrosoftExchange
• Microsoft Outlook
• Microsoft Express
• N ovell Groupwise (available separately)
For example, y ou click the envelop e and lock icon to indicate that yo u want to
encryptyourm essageand the pen and paper toi ndicatethatyou wantto sign
your message. Some applications also have an icon of both a lock a nd quill,
whichlets you do both at once. When you receive email from another PGP
user, you d ecrypt the message and verify the person’s digital signature by
clickingtheopened lockand envelope,or by selecting“Decrypt/Verify”from
thePGPmenu.YoucanalsoaccessthePGPkeyswindowatanytimewhile
comp osing or retrieving your mail by clicking the PGPkeys button in some
plug-ins.
