How does VirusScan software work?
VirusScan software combines the anti-virus industry’s most capable scan
engine with top-notch interface enhancements that give you complete access
to that engine’s power. The V irusScan graphical user interface unifies its
specialized pro gram components, but without sacrificing the flexibility you
need to fit the softwar e int o your computing enviro nment. The scan engin e ,
meanwhile, combines the best features of technologies that McAfee and
McAfee VirusScan researchers developed independently for m ore than a
decade.
What comes with VirusScan software?
VirusScan softwareconsistsof severalcomponents that combine one or more
related programs, each of which play a part in defending y our computer
against viruses and other malicious software. The components a re:
• The VirusScan Central. Th is is your main entry point in using all of t he
available components of McAfee VirusScan. This home screen (see Fi gure
1-2) p ro vides r el evant information s uch as t he la st time a virus scan was
performed on your c o mputer; what VShield settings are enabled o r
disabled and available D AT informat ion and when it was created.
