UsingtheVShieldconfigurationwizard
After you install VirusScan software and restart your computer, the VShield
scannerlo adsintomemoryimme diatelyandbeginsw orkingwithad efaultse t
of op tions that give you basic anti-viru s protection. Unl ess yo u disable it or
one of its modules—or stop it entirely—you never have to worry about
starting the scanner or scheduling scan tasks for it.
To ensure m ore than a minimal level of security, however, you sho uld
config ure the scanne r to work with your e -mail client s oftware and have it
examine your Interne t traffic closely for viruses an d malicious software. The
VShield configuration wizard can helpyou set up many of theseoptions right
awayyoucanthentailortheprogramtoworkbetterinyourenvironmentas
you become mo re familiar with the sca nne r and your syste m’s suscep tibility
to harmful software.
To start the VShield configuration wizard:
1. Right-clicktheV Shieldicon intheWindowssystemtraytodisplaythe
VShield shortcut m enu, point to Properties, then choose System Scan
to open the VShield Pr operties d ialog box.
2. Click Wizard in the lower-left corner of the dialog box to display the
co nf iguration wizard welcome panel.
3. Click Next> to display the System Sc an confi guration panel.

susceptibletoinfectionw heneveryouopen,run,copy,saveorotherwise
mo dify the m. Susceptible file s include various types of executa b le files
and document files with embedded macros, such as M icrosoft Office
files.
