File allocation tables–Select this o ption if your files are corrupted
and y ou have been unable to repair them using Disk Minde r. Often
much or all of you r data may be intact on the dis k, but t he file
allocation tables (FATs) may be damaged. By restoring the most
currentcopy of a disk’s FAT, youcanoftenrecover filesthat would
otherwise be lost.
5. Click Finish to restore t h e drives with the spe cified kinds of data.
NOTE: If your Image file is more t han a day or two old , or if yo u have
optimizedyourhard diskandhavenotrunImage, tryusingDiskMinder
to repairthe hard drive first.
Rescue Disk
RescueDiskletsy oucreateanemergencybootdiskthatyoucanusetoboot up
your PC if you encoun ter a problem that pr events you fro m starting the
computerfrom the system hard drive. The system hard drive is the hard dri ve
that contains your Windows directory or folder.
You can use the Rescue disk that is created by default.
NOTE:Therescuedisksetbootsfromafloppybutincludesacompanion
ZIP or SyQuest disk that lets you run Windows in a paired-down
configurationto try torecover yoursystem inthe event of acatastrophe.
The la rge com p anion rescue disk also contains crit ical parts of Windows
that can help recover your system in the event some portions of
Windows become damaged. To usethis feature,simply run RescueDisk
ona systemt hathasa ZIPor otherhigh-capacityremovable mediadrive
and follow the on-screen instructions.
To create a Rescue Disk:
1. ClicktheNext>buttonintheRescueDiskWizard.
2. Use the d efault Rescue disk.
3. Click N ext >. Then click Finis h.
4. I nsert a disk into drive A and clickOK.
Rescue Disk formats the disk and copies critical startup files to it, as well as
any files you added. When the process is c omplete, Rescue Disk exits and
returns to the desktop.
