2. During C heckUp, the component currently under examination is
highlighted.Statusinformationatthebottomofthescreenletsyouknow

To perform a specific CheckUp
1. If you are having a specific hardware problem, click the appropriate
componen t in the CheckUp deskt op. A pop-up menu appears.
2. Click the check for the selected componen t. First A id will perform a
CheckUp on that component only.
Fixing problems
Whe n CheckUp is finished, First Aid displays the number of p ro b le ms it
found via the CheckUp Report screen. The problems are in order of severity:
CriticalProblems.Urgent problemss uch asa f ailing harddr ive ormissing
software components that need to be attended to immediately.
Potential Problems. Less s erious problems that might affect your PC. For
example,apotentialproblemis abadshortcut,one thatnolongerproperly
points to an applicatio n on your PC.
Tips&PerformanceIssues.Suggestionsforimproving theperformance of
your PC. For example, a performance tip might suggest that yo u install
QuickTime if it is n’t a lready installed.
From the CheckUp Report screen, you can:
Fix many p ro b lems au tomatically us ing AutoFix .
Fix problems that req u ire manual fixes.
View the problemsFirst Aidfound. If you are curious about whatFirstAid
found, click View to display th e F ix Info s creen, which lists each problem
identified during the CheckUp. From the F ix Info screen, you c an AutoFix
individualproblems or find out additional information about a problem.
Cancel the Report and return to the CheckUp desktop. C lick Cancel or the
Back button to return to the CheckUp desktop.To return to the initial
CheckUp Report screen, click the Back but ton.
Using AutoFix
When CheckUp reports that your PC has problems,your best courseof action
is to click AutoFix from the initial CheckUp report s c reen. First A id will t hen
attempttofixalloftheglitcheslistedintheCh eckUpReport.A fteranAutoFix,
First Aid mi ght report that s o me problems identified in the CheckUp cannot
be AutoFixed: a manual fix is the solution for these problems.
