6 McAfee VirusScan TC
The deployment and installation scenarios
You candeploytheVirusScanTC softwareto the computerson your network
using one of two installation scenarios—Complete Installation or Optimized
Installation. The major characteristics of the two approaches are described
below:
Complete Installation Optimized Installation
Deployment
VirusScan TC is deployed by SMS, Windows NT
login scripts.
VirusScan TCis deployed using the ePolicy Orches-
trator Console.

Installation
The installation files that are deployed to target
systemsincludeall ofthe programfiles, including
oneversionoftheMicrosoft Installer(MSI)foruse
with Windows 95 and Windows 98, and another
version for use with Windows NT. This assures
the availability of all files required for installation
without regard to whether they are already
present on the system.
Only one small installation file is deployed to the
system, which, in turn, pulls only those program
filesthatare required, but not already present,for
installation and operation of VirusScan TC on the
target computers.
The compressed size of the installation files is
approximately 6
MB.
The compressed size of the installation files
ranges between approximately:
•3.1
MB on a Windows 2000 system
to
•4.6
MB on a Windows 95 system without MSI
previously installed.
The installation includes an executable file for
each oftwoversionsoftheMicrosoftInstallerv1.1
(MSI).
The installation includes no more than one exe-
cutable file for the single version of the Microsoft
Installerv1.1thatyoursystemrequires.IfMSIis
already present on the client, the installation rou-
tine does not include either MSI file.
The space used on the client system after installa-
tion is about 10
MB.
The space used on the client system after
installation is about 10MB.
Configuration
VirusScan TC can only be configured using the
ePolicy Orchestrator Console.
• Youmust be running ePolicy Orchestrator v1.1
on your network.
• The target computers must be running the
ePolicy Orchestrator agentv1.1.
