5. Return adjustment knob handle to original
position. Ensure teeth of adjustment knob
handle are engaged with notches in the
chain brake and adjustment knob handle
is laying flat.

can cut you even when it is not moving.
It is normal for a new chain tostretch duringthe
first 15 minutes of operation. Y ou should re-
check your chain tensionfrequently and adjust
the chain tension as required. Always check
chain tension each time you use and refuel
your saworwhenany sagin thechain is noted.
1. MoveON/STOPswitchtotheSTOP
position.
2. Make sure chain brake is disengaged
(seeCHAINBRAKEintheOPERATION
section).
IMPORTANT: Before proceeding to next
step, ensureunit isona flatsurfaceand inan
upright position as shown in illustration.
Chainwillnottig htenproperlyifthe unit isnot
in an upright position.
3. Use the chain adjustment tool (bar tool)
to move chain around guide bar to en-
surekinks donotexist.The chainshould
rotate freely.

4. Lift adjustment knob handle and turn
counterclockwise 1 turn to loosen bar.
Chain will tighten automatically.
NOTE: If chain brake detaches from saw,
see TO REPLACE CHAIN BRAKE se ction.

5. While lifting tip of guide bar, turn adjust-
ment knob handle clockwise to clamp
bar. Tightenuntil baris clampedsecure-
ly. Hand tighten securely; do not use
tools to tighten!
6. Using chain adjustment tool (bar tool),
roll chain around guide bar to ensure all
links are in bar groove.
7. Return adjustment knob handle to original
position. Ensure teeth of adjustment knob
handle are engaged with notches in the
chain brake and adjustment knob handle
is laying flat.
WARNING: If the saw is operated
with a loose chain, the chain could jump off
the guide bar and result in serious injury.
WARNING:Muf flerisvery hotduring
and afteruse. Do not touch the muffler oral-
low combustible material such as dry grass
or fuel to do so.

gin.Ifyoudonotunderstandthesafetyrules,
do not attempt to fuel your unit. Contact an
authorized service dealer .
BAR AND CHAIN LUBRICATION
The bar and chain require continuous lubri-
cation. Lubrication is provided by the auto-
matic oiler system when the oil tank is kept
filled. Lack of oil will quickly ruin the bar and
chain. Too little oil will cause overheating
shownby smokecom ingfromthechainand/
or discoloration of the bar.
Only useBarandChainOilforbar andchain
lubrication.
