5. Supply and return shutoff valves are required at each
conditioner.Thereturnvalveisusedforbalancingand
shouldhavea“memorystop”sothatitcanalwaysbe
closedoffbutcanonlybereopenedtotheproperposition
fortheowrequired.
6. Nounitshouldbeconnectedtothesupplyandreturn
pipinguntilthewatersystemhasbeencleanedandushed
completely.Afterthecleaningandushinghastaken
place, the initial connection should have all valves wide
open in preparation for water system
ushing.
7. Condensatepipingcanbesteel,copperorPVC.Eachunit
includes a condensate connection.
8. Thecondensatedisposalpipingmustbetrapped.The
pipingmustbepitchedawayfromtheunitnotlessthan
1⁄4"perfoot.Theunithasa3/4inchfemalepipetting
on each water source heat pump to accommodate the
condense drain connection. Factory supplied condensate
hoseassemblieshaveapipethreadttingtofacilitate
connectionofaexiblevinylorsteelbraidedhose.
AcompletecopperorPVCcondensesystemcanbe
used.UnionttingsinthecopperorPVClinesshouldbe
applied to facilitate removal.

Cleaning & Flushing System
1. Priortorstoperationofanyconditioner,thewater
circulatingsystemmustbecleanedandushedofall
constructiondirtanddebris.
If the conditioners are equipped with water shutoff valves,
either electric or pressure operated, the supply and return
runoutsmustbeconnectedtogetherateachconditioner
location. This will prevent the introduction of dirt into the
unit. See Figure 15.

2. Fillthesystematthecitywatermakeupconnectionwith
allairventsopen.Afterlling,closeallairvents.
The contractor should start main circulator with the
pressurereducingvalveopen.Checkventsinsequenceto
bleedoffanytrappedair,ensuringcirculationthroughall
components of the system.
Powertotheheatrejectorunitshouldbeoff,andthe
supplementary heat control set at 80°F (27°C).
Whilecirculatingwater,thecontractorshouldcheck
andrepairanyleaksinthepiping.Drainsatthelowest
point(s)inthesystemshouldbeopenedforinitialush
