The LonWorks communication module will plug into the
Microtech III unit controller at the CN_LON1 Header (see
Figure 20 on page 18).
EachDaikinMcQuaywatersourceheatpumpcanbe
equipped with a LonWorks communication module. The
controllerismicroprocessor-basedandisdesignedtocommu-
nicateoveraLonWorkscommunicationsnetwork.Theunit
controller is factory programmed and tested with all the logic
required to monitor and control the unit. The wall thermostat
sets the unit mode of operation. The unit controller monitors
water and air temperatures, and can communicate fault condi-
tions to a LonWorkscommunicationsnetwork.
The MicroTech III unit controller with communication
moduleincludesaunit-mountedreturnair,dischargeairand
leaving water temperature sensor. Wall mounted temperature
sensorsincludesetpointadjustmentandtenantoverride.The
userhasthecapabilityofsubstitutingthewallsensorwitha
duct-mountedreturnairsensor.
Each unit controller orchestrates the following unit
operations:
■ Enableheatingandcoolingtomaintainsetpointbasedon
a room sensor.
■ Enablefanandcompressoroperation.
■ Monitorallequipmentprotectioncontrols.
■ Monitordischargeairtemperature.
■ Monitorleavingwatertemperature.
■ Relaystatusofallvitalunitfunctions.
■ Supportoptionalcontroloutputs.
Anamber,on-boardstatusLEDaidsindiagnosticsbyindi-
cating the water source heat pump operating mode and alarm
conditions. If there are no current alarm conditions, the LED
will indicate the unit operating mode. If there are one or more
alarmconditionspresent,theLEDwillashtoindicatean
alarm condition.
MicroTech III heat pumps with a MicroTech III unit control-
lerareLonMarkcertiedanddesignedtobelinkedwitha
centralizedbuildingautomationsystemthroughaLonWorks
communicationsnetworkforcentralizedschedulingandman-
agementofmultipleheatpumps.Wall-mountedroomsensors
areavailabletocontroltheheatingandcoolingoperationof
each MicroTech III Water Source Heat Pump Unit Controller.
Availableroomsensorsinclude:roomsensorwithLEDstatus
andtenantoverridebutton,roomsensorwithLEDstatus,
timed-overridebutton,roomsensorwithLEDstatus,timed-
overridebutton,andsetpointadjustment,androomsensor
withLEDstatus,timed-overridebutton,setpointadjustment.
The MicroTech III water source heat pump unit controller
providescontrolofDaikinMcQuaywatersourceheatpumps.
Thecontrollerenablesthemodeofoperation,monitorsthe
water and air temperatures, and indicates fault conditions.
Each unit controller is factory programmed, wired, and tested
foreffectiveoperationofyourDaikinMcQuaywatersource
heat pump.
The MicroTech III water source heat pump controller uses
LonWorks technology. One of the following two versions
of the application software is loaded into the controller at the
factory.
LonMark®3.4certiedapplicationcodeisthecurrentstan-
dard application code for MicroTech III units.

DaikinMcQuaywatersourceheatpumpsareavailablewith
DaikinMcQuayBACnetMS/TPcommunicationmodulethat
isdesignedtocommunicateoveraBACnetMS/TPcommu-
nicationsnetworktoabuildingautomationsystem(BAS).It
canbefactoryoreld-installed.
The unit controller is programmed and tested with all the
logic required to monitor and control the unit. An optional
wallsensormaybeusedwiththecommunicationmoduleto
provide limited local control of the water source heat pump.
The unit controller monitors water and air temperatures and
passes information to the communication module. The mod-
ulecommunicateswiththeBAS,toprovidenetworkcontrol
of the water source heat pump.
