19.2.1. Faults and Possible Causes
The screen is black.
• This fault can have various causes:
− The notebook is in standby mode
Solution:
Press the on/off switch.
− The notebook is in energy-saving mode.
Solution:
Press the on/off switch.
The Notebook turns itself off during operation.
 The batteries may be flat. Plug the Notebook in using the mains adapter and
charge the batteries.
No data can be read by the optical drive.
 Check whether the disc has been inserted correctly.

The WLAN/Bluetooth connections do not work.
 Check that flight mode is disabled.
The touchpad is not working.
 To activate the touchpad, press the Fn + F9 keyboard shortcut.
Apps (e.g. the weather app) cannot be displayed as live tiles.
 Check the date, time zone and time.
