Install the batteries before each use and remove them when the
patient reader is not in use. Replace the batteries when the amber
indicator on the patient reader is lit.
Warning: Do not inhale or swallow the batteries. Inhaling or
swallowing the batteries can cause serious physical harm.
To install the batteries, perform the following steps:
1. Open the battery packaging.
2. Open the patient reader battery compartment door.
3. Install three new LR6 (AA-sized) alkaline batteries. Verify that
the batteries align with the polarity markings on the inside of
the battery compartment (see Figure 2).

Caution: Ensure that the batteries are installed with the correct
battery polarity by verifying that the batteries align with the
polarity markings on the inside of the battery compartment. The
