Installation Instructions
Using the Linen White chalked paint, paint over the
stencils so that each letter is lled in. Let dry then
carefully remove the stencils and painter’s tape.
After the white paint has dried, use a sanding sponge to
lightly sand around the letters and edges of the board
without removing too much paint. This gives your board an
authentic look. Wipe down with a tack cloth.
STEP 9: lightly sand
Apply wood glue to the unpainted side of each 8”
length of 2 x 2. With the glue applied, attach an 8”
board to both ends of the underside of the large board.
STEP 11: apply glue & attach 8” boards
Carefully clamp the glued-on pieces in place to create a
rm hold, letting the glue dry completely.
STEP 12: clamp boards
Apply two or three coats of the Varathane Matte
Water-based Polyrethane over all the wooden pieces. This
step is critical to help protect the tray from moisture
exposure over time.
Note: Only coat the painted sides of the 8” pieces, leaving
one long side unpainted and uncoated for later gluing.
STEP 10: apply polyurethane
STEP 8: paint over the stencils
