This framed chalkboard is fun and easy to make while also

having many practical uses. You can use your chalkboard to

write reminder lists, dinner plans, or draw your own decorations.

With an authentic handmade look, this chalkboard is a great

Select Pine Board

Measure and mark a select pine board (103-1590) at

17”. Mark a second line another 17” down the board.

Measure and mark from the second line 23” down the

board. Mark a fourth line another 23” down board.

STEP 1: MEASURE and mark

Cut the board at each of the four marks.

STEP 3: drill Drill two pocket holes at the end of each of the 23” boards. STEP 4: attach boards Attach boards using pocket screws. STEP 5: sand Sand boards at the seams for a clean, finished look. STEP 6: route Using a router with a rabbiting bit, route out the interior edge of the frame. STEP 7: stain Stain the frame and let dry. Apply a second coat if needed.

STEP 8: measure the routing Measure the length and width of the routed out portion of the frame. STEP 9: cut out the chalkboard Mark the length and width of the routed out portion of the frame on the hardboard panel (129-1135). Cut out the board. STEP 10: paint the board Apply a minimum two coats of chalkboard spray paint to the hardboard. Allow board to dry between coats. STEP 11: glue in the hardboard Using hot glue, glue the cut-out hardboard into the frame.
