Board

A menu board is a fun and useful piece of décor. You can

use it as a stylish advertising feature in front of a business

or restaurant, a charming decorative feature in your kitchen,

or in any number of creative ways! One side of the board is

a blackboard, where messages can be easily changed to

accommodate different friends or guests, and the other side

is a corkboard that can be used to update menus, post

notes, or even pin up pictures.

STEP 1: Measuring & Cutting First, using the 1” x 3” x 8’ pine board, measure, mark, and cut a 15” piece. Using the same board, repeat the previous measurement to cut a second 15” piece. Next, measure, mark, and cut two 32” pieces. Repeat all of these measurements and cuts on a second 1” x 3” x 8’ board. There should now be four 32” pieces and four 15” pieces.

STEP 6: Attach Cross pieces Using a Kreg Jig®, drill two pocket holes at each end of the four 15” frame pieces. Next, measure 22” between the cross pieces, clamp, and attach using pocket screws. Repeat this process on the opposite side. STEP 7: Sand & Dust Sand over the pocket holes, seams, and any other rough areas of the assembled boards before using a tack cloth to remove any saw dust.

STEP 11: Attach Frames & Hinges Mark the hinge placement on the top of the two frames, pre-drill, and attach the hinges. STEP 12: Attach Chain On the now nearly assembled easel, mark one edge of the frame at a height of 16” from the base and pre-drill. Use a 1” pan washer head screw to attach one end of the chain to the side of the easel frame, pulling the chain to the desired length. Once this is determined, separate the last chain link and attach it to the other side.
