STEP 1: Cut the lumber Measure and cut all of the following pieces: • [8] 72” 2 x 4 Legs • [3] 74” Inside Supports and Guard Rail (2 x 4) • [10] 42” Ladder/Bottom Supports and Bed Slats (2 x 4) • [1] 84” Guard Rail (2 x 4) • [2] 87” Main Supports (2 x 6) • [2] 42” Front/Back Supports (2 x 6) STEP 2: Create the Legs Mark a 72" 2 x 4 every 18" and place it on another 72" 2 x 4 at a right angle to create a leg. Fasten the piece with four deck screws at the 18" marks.

STEP 3: Sand Sand all of the pieces until they are smooth to the touch. STEP 4: Create the support beams Center a 74” 2 x 4 on an 87” 2 x 6. Keep the bottoms of each board flush so there are approximately two inches of the 2 x 6 uncovered and five inches on each side uncovered. Fasten the two boards together using three bolts placed at 4", 37", and 70" along the 2 x 4. Pound the bolts into the 2 x 6 side. Repeat until you have two support beams.

STEP 6: Assemble bed frame Attach the two main support/leg pieces together using two 42" 2 x 6 pieces. Use two bolts on each side approximately 2-1/2" from the end and 1-3/4" from the edge of the 2 x 6. Repeat on other side. You should now have a full bed frame. STEP 7: Fasten Bottom Supports Next, you will add the bottom supports. Fasten the last 74" 2 x 4 bottom support 8" up from the bottom of the legs, on the inside of the frame. Place it flush against the leg corners.

STEP 8: Fasten the Ladder Rings Space two 42" 2 x 4’s evenly between the top 42" 2 x 6 and bottom 42" 2 x 4 on one side to make ladder rungs. Fasten them with two deck screws on each side. STEP 9: Add Guard Rail Attach the 84" 2 x 4 as a guard rail on the opposite side of the 74" bottom support at the very top of the bed frame. Fasten it to the legs with deck screws.
