4 Connection to Power Mains
Ensure that the supply voltage and frequency
matches the voltage/frequency stated on the motor
label.
This machine must be connected to an earthed
outlet. If necessary, fit a Schuko type cable socket
to a power cable with a plug matching your local
standard outlet. Fit a BS 1362 13 A fuse to your

Start the lathe by pressing the green button, switch off by pressing the red button. A solenoid in the switch prevents
starting after a power failure.
5.2 Accident Prevention
- Do not use wood blocks or discs with shrinkage cracks, as there is a high bursting risk caused by the centrifugal
force.
- Only work wood whose fibers run in longitudinal direction to the axis of rotation.
-When turning bowls do not stand in their possible path of travel
- Set tool rest as close as practical against the workpiece (approx. 5 - 10 mm).
- Start turning a new workpiece at the lowest speed setting.
-When turning stock between centres drill locating holes of at least 5 mm diameter.
- Use 3- or 4-jaw chucks only with chuck guard.
5 Safety Information
5.1 Personal Protection
Do not operate this woodturning lathe HDM 1000 without wearing proper protective apparel and gear.
- To prevent eye injury always wear safety glasses or face shields or visors.
-Wear a suitable head protection, e.g. a hard hat or a visor with head protection. Wood disks with cracks can
burst when worked, causing serious head injury.
- To protect your respiratory tracts wear breathing equipment (particle filter). The dust of beech and oak can be
carcinogenic.
-Wear tight-fitting shirt or jacket, or a woodturner’s smock. A wide sleeve can get caught by the rotating
workpiece.
