Set the toolrest as close as possible against the workpiece
(5-10 mm), and set height to centre line. Before starting
work turn workpiece by hand to see if it can turn freely,
and check that all levers are tightened.
Advance the revolving centre to lock the workpiece
between the centres. Tighten the lock lever to keep the
centre sleeve from working loose.
10 Faceplate Turning
Select appropriate spindle speed by changing the belt on
the pulleys. For safety reasons always start with the
lowest speed.
To change the spindle speed, loosen the starknob and lift
the motor. See label in drive cover for correct tension of
the drive belt.
Switch on motor only after the machine is correctly set,
the proper seat of the workpiece has been checked, and
all knobs and levers are tightened.
- Always work from right to left.
- Adjust the toolrest position when the workpiece’s
diameter becomes smaller.
Attach faceplate to workpiece with at least 4 screws.Cut waste away with band saw or jig saw to bring
workpiece into rough shape.
- Give workpiece a visual check and tapping test to find
any possible cracks.
- Do not use workpieces with cracks. High risk of burst
ing caused by the centrifugal force.
Mark position of faceplate with a compass on the
workpiece.
