· Hazard by cluttered work area (e.g. by cutoffs
on the floor):
- Always keep your work area clean and tidy.
· Hazard by objects being caught by the rotating
saw blade during cutting (e.g. tools on the saw
table; hidden metal parts in the workpiece or
cutting several workpieces simultaneously):
- Keep the saw table clean.
- If in doubt check workpiece for inclusion of
foreign matter.
- Always cut one workpiece at a time.
· Hazard generated by environmental influences:
- Do not operate the mitre saw in rain or damp
environment.
- Ensure sufficient lighting.
- Do not operate the mitre saw near inflamma-
ble liquids or gases.
· Hazard to other persons in the work area:
- Keep bystanders, particularly children, out of
the danger zone.
· Hazard generated by overloading:
- Use the mitre saw only within its limits.
- Use mitre saw only as specified.
· Hazard generated by machine faults:
- Check the mitre saw for damage before any
use.
- Before switching ON check to see that keys
or setting tools are removed.
- Do not operate the saw with a damaged ON/
OFF switch.
- Keep buttons, knobs and handles free of oil
and grease.
· Hazard by unintentional starting of the mitre
saw:
- Plug in only after mitre saw, with all required
accessories, is ready for work.
- Unplug before locking the sawhead in the
"down" position.
- Unplug when leaving the mitre saw unat-
tended.
Safety devices
Sawhead lock
The sawhead lock (20) prevents the unintentional
lowering of the sawhead onto the saw table.
The sawhead lock (20) must always engage when
the sawhead is fully lifted.
Retractable blade guard
The retractable blade guard (21) protects against
unintentional contact with the saw blade and from
chips flying about.
The retractable blade guard (21) must always close
automatically: when the sawhead is fully lifted, the
teeth of the saw blade must be fully covered.
