Insulation resistance measurement procedure for CLASS I
Ì Select the Insulation function.
Ì Set output test voltage.
Ì Set limit value.
Ì Set measuring time.
Ì Connect device under test to the instrument (see figures above).
Ì When appliance has isolated accessible metal parts, use S probe (earth bond
clip), see 5.2.2 Insulation resistance on class 2 appliances.
Ì For fixed equipment:
• Disconnect mains supply of the fixed equipment;
• Connect L test socket of the instrument to L and N of the fixed equipment;
• Connect PE test socket of the instrument to metallic enclosure of thefixed
equipment.
Ì Press the START key for measurement.
Examples of insulation resistance measurement results
Note:
Ì When probe is applied during measurement of Class I appliance then the result
represents parallel value of both measured insulation resistances.
5.2.2 Insulation resistance on class II appliances (Insulation S)
The instrument measures the insulation resistance between:
Ì Main test socket (L+N) and S test terminals,
Ì LN and S test sockets.
