Pipeline metal detection systems
METTLER TOLEDO Safeline's pipeline detec-
tors are intended for use in the food industry
and are built around well proven L and LZ
series detection heads. These rugged, com-
pact systems are suitable for the inspection
of liquids, pastes and slurries; e.g. sauces,
soups, preserves, liquid chocolate, meat
pastes, etc.
Systems use the Signature electronics plat-
form for operation. The operator interface is
via a robust membrane key panel.
Heads and systems can be designed using
METTLER TOLEDO Safeline's unique ZMFZ
technology which minimises overall system
length allowing them to be inserted into new
or existing lines where space is restricted. A
wide variety of reject valves are available to
suit all product types allowing detection and
rejection processes to be fully automated.
R Series metal detectors
Designed for easy integration into food
production lines, R Series detector heads
deliver high performance in-line metal detec-
tion. Unrivalled levels of detection sensitivity
are attainable through the sophisticated but
easy to use Signature and Profile operating
system electronics platforms. All metal con-
taminants are detectable including ferrous,
non-ferrous and even difficult to detect non-
magnetic stainless steels. R Series heads are
suitable for use in a wide variety of general
industrial metal detection applications and
when combined with materials handling sys-
tems such as conveyors, product inspection
can be fully automated.
Metal detectors for gravity fall bulk powder
and granular product applications
Designed to detect and reject metal contami-
nated product in bulk gravity fall applications,
METTLER TOLEDO Safeline's Sealtite, open
diverter and 'Y' valve diverter systems provide
the optimum solution for the inspection of
bulk powdered and granular products. Unri-
valled sensitivity allows for the detection
of all metal contaminants in-flight including
the normally difficult to detect non-mag-
netic stainless steels.
Sealtite diverter technology is well suited to
fine particle or dusty products whilst open
diverter technology is more suited to products
with larger particles reducing the risk of
blockages. 'Y' valve diverters offer the ulti-
mate in easyclean technology for maxi-
mum up time and plant efficiency. All sys-
tems are available using Profile or Signa-
ture operating systems and are designed for
minimised overall height allowing them
to be installed in applications where space
is very restricted. Optional Atex compliant
designs are available for use in potentially
ex-plosive environments. These designs
comply with Atex Ex II Cat 2D T79 C.

SAFELINE
Metal Detection & X-ray Inspection
Metal detectors for the
pharmaceutical industry
Ultimate sensitivity for maximum protection
of pharmaceutical products is guaranteed with
METTLER TOLEDO Safeline's tablet and cap-
sule inspection systems. Tablex systems iden-
tify metal contaminated product resulting
from broken screens, sieves, worn punches,
dies or raw materials and removes the con-
taminated tablets and capsules. Offering the
ultimate in flexibility, these systems utilise
a unique triple axis detection head that
features 'no-tool' adjustment to fit any tablet
press output configuration. An extremely
small footprint minimises space requirements
and the stainless steel mirror finish is de-
signed to exceed strict pharmaceutical indus-
try standards. Contaminated product is
rejected into a separate bin for analysis and
disposal. Tablex has been proven to de-
tect minute particles of ferrous, non-ferrous
metal, all grades of non-magnetic stain-
less steel and fine screen wire in a variety of
metal types. Advanced coil design and so-
phisticated digital signal electronics provide
optimum sensitivity and stability, resulting
in metal detectors unrivalled by any other
model. Operating security is ensured with the
self check capability which continuously
monitors sensitivity and sounds an alarm if a
failure occurs. A separate reject confirmation
system monitors the effectiveness of the reject
device and will activate an alarm if metal is
detected and the reject fails to respond within
a preset time.
