12. Text messages
The text message network service allows you to exchange
short text messages with other phones that have text
message capability. You may also convert the message to
other formats such as e-mail and fax. The messages are
first sent to your Message Center and then delivered to
the recipient. Contact your service provider for details.
Before you can send and receive text messages, you must
enter certain information into your phone. See ‘Message
settings’ on page 55.
Writing a message

2 1 3 to write a message
of up to 160 characters. The number
of available characters remaining is
shown in the top right corner of the
display.
There are two different ways of writing a message.
ABC mode is the default mode.
• To switch between ABC mode and predictive text input
press .
Using ABC mode
When you select this mode, the
ABC
icon is displayed in the
upper left corner of the display. To enter the word hello,
press the following keys:
