For your safety 1 For your safety Read these simple guidelines. Not following them may be dangerous or illegal. Read the complete user guide for further information. SWITCH ON SAFELY Do not switch the phone on when wireless phone use is prohibited or when it may cause interference or danger. ROAD SAFETY COMES FIRST Obey all local laws. Always keep your hands free to operate the vehicle while driving. Your first consideration while driving should be road safety.
WATER-RESISTANCE Your phone is not water-resistant. Keep it dry. BACKUP COPIES Remember to make back-up copies or keep a written record of all important information stored in your phone. CONNECTING TO OTHER DEVICES When connecting to any other device, read its user guide for detailed safety instructions. Do not connect incompatible products. EMERGENCY CALLS Ensure the phone is switched on and in service. Press the End key as many times as needed (e.g. to exit a call, to exit a menu, etc.
Welcome 2 Welcome Congratulations on your purchase of the Nokia 6225 mobile phone. Your phone provides many functions which are practical for daily use, such as a radio, hands-free loudspeaker, alarm clock, calculator, calendar, and more. Your phone can also connect to a PC, laptop, or other device using a data cable or the built-in IR port. To personalize your phone, you can set your favorite ring tones, create a go-to-menu, and select an Xpress-onTM color cover.

The start screen The start screen is “home base” and indicates your phone is in idle mode. Battery level Signal strength Menu Contacts Signal strength—A higher bar indicates a stronger network signal. Battery level—A higher bar indicates more power in the battery. Menu—Press the Left selection key to select this option. Contacts—Press the Right selection key to select this option.
Welcome Icon Indicates... The stopwatch timing is running in the background, see “The stopwatch” on page 67. When shown continuously, the IR connection is activated and your phone is ready to send or receive data via its IR port; when blinking, your phone is trying to connect to the other device or a connection has been lost. See “Send and receive data using IR” on page 42. All calls are forwarded to another number. See “Call forwarding” on page 49.
• PHONE MENUS Phone features are grouped according to function and are accessed through the main menus. Each main menu contains submenus and lists from which you can select or view items and customize your phone features. You can access these menus and submenus by using the scroll method or by using a shortcut. Note: Some features may not be available, depending on your network. For more information, contact your wireless provider.
Set up your phone 3 Set up your phone The antenna Your device has an internal antenna located towards the top of the phone. Hold the phone as you would any other telephone with the antenna area pointed up and over your shoulder. Note: As with any other radio transmitting device, do not touch the antenna unnecessarily when the device is switched on. Contact with the antenna affects call quality and may cause the phone to operate at a higher power level than otherwise needed.
REPLACE THE BACK COVER 4 Slide the back cover toward the top of the phone until you hear a click and see the back cover release button. CHARGE THE BATTERY 1 2 Plug the charger transformer in to a standard ac outlet. Insert the charger output plug into the round jack at the bottom end of the phone. After a few seconds, the battery indicator in the display starts to scroll from bottom to top.
Set up your phone Change the Xpress-on™ covers Note: Before removing the cover, always switch off the power and disconnect the charger and any other device. Avoid touching electronic components while changing the covers. Always store and use the device with the covers attached. REMOVE THE BACK COVER AND THE BATTERY See “Remove the back cover” and “Remove the battery” on page 9 for instructions on removing the back cover and battery.
• MAKE A CALL Using the keypad 1 2 Enter the phone number (including the area code), and press the Talk key. (To delete a character to the left of the cursor, press Clear.) Press the End key to end the call or to cancel the call attempt. Using the contacts list 1 2 At the start screen, scroll to the entry you wish to view. Press the Talk key to make the call, or press Details to view details of the entry.
Set up your phone Adjust the earpiece volume • • • To increase the volume of a call, press the top of the volume key on the left side of the phone. To decrease the volume of a call, press the bottom of the volume key on the left side of the phone. When adjusting the volume, a bar chart appears in the display indicating the volume level. Volume key The loudspeaker You can use your phone as a loudspeaker during a call. Do not hold the phone to your ear during the loudspeaker operation.
4 Text entry You can use two methods for entering text and numbers: • Standard mode is the only way to enter text into such things as the contacts list, calendar notes, and to rename caller groups. • Predictive text input is a quick and easy method for writing messages, creating a calendar note, or making a to-do list. • STANDARD MODE Text (Abc) • Press a key once to insert the first letter on the key, twice for the second letter, etc.
Text entry Activate/deactivate At any text entry screen, press and hold Options. Predictive text is turned on and off, depending on its previous mode. OR 1 2 At any text entry screen, select Options > Predictive text and press Select. Scroll to the language of your choice and press Select. Note: The language setting affects the time and date formats of the clock, alarm clock, and calendar. Text entry The illustration below simulates your display each time a key is pressed.
5 Contacts list The contacts list can hold up to 500 contacts, with multiple numbers and text notes for each contact. The amount of numbers and text entries that you can save may vary, depending on length and the total number of entries in the contacts list. • ADD NEW CONTACTS Save a name and number 1 2 3 At the start screen, enter the phone number you wish to save. Select Options > Save and press Select. Enter the name and press OK.
Contacts list 5 To change the type, select Change type in the options list. You can also change which phone number is the default (primary) number for the contact entry. 1 2 At the start screen, scroll down to the entry you wish to change, and press Details. Scroll to the number you wish to set as default, elect Options > As primary no. and press Select. Set up voice tags For more information on setting up voice tags and other voice features, see “Voice (Menu 10)” on page 57.
4 5 Enter a name for the number and press OK. If 1-touch dialing is off, the phone displays a prompt asking if you would like to turn 1-touch dialing on. Press Yes to activate 1-touch dialing. CHANGE 1-TOUCH DIALING NUMBERS 1 2 3 4 At the start screen, select Contacts > 1-touch dialing and press Select. Scroll to the 1-touch dialing entry you wish to change and select Options > Change and press Select. Enter the new number, or press Find to retrieve a number from the contacts list, and press OK.
Contacts list 4 Edit name—Edit the name of the contact. View name—View the name of the contact. Delete—Delete the entire contact entry from your contacts list. Edit the option to your preference and press OK. • DELETE CONTACTS LIST ENTRIES 1 2 3 4 5 6 At the start screen, select Contacts > Delete and press Select. To delete individual entries, scroll to One by one and press Select. Scroll to the entry you wish to delete, press Delete > OK to confirm.
Configure settings You can select how the contacts appear in your contacts list and view the amount of memory used or available in your phone. 1 2 At the start screen, select Contacts > Settings and press Select. Scroll to one of the following options and press Select to enter the submenu: Scrolling view—Select Name list, Name and number, or Name and image view.
Messages (Menu 1) 6 Messages (Menu 1) If you have subscribed to a messaging service through your wireless provider, you can send and receive messages to compatible phones that also subscribe to a compatible message service. You may also be able to send and receive picture messages, enhanced messages, multimedia messages and e-mail messages. When sending messages, your device may display the words “Message Sent.
1 2 3 4 Press Show to read the message, or Exit to move it to your inbox. When you have unopened messages in your inbox, is shown in the upper left corner of the start screen as a reminder. Use the scroll keys (the Scroll up key or the Scroll down key) to view the whole message if necessary. Select Options > Reply and press Select. Select a Start reply with option, then compose your reply using the keypad. Select Options > Send and press Select.
Messages (Menu 1) Change sending options 1 2 At the start screen, select Menu > Messages > Text messages > Message Settings > Sending options and press Select. Scroll to the setting you wish to change and press Select: Priority—Set the priority of the note as Urgent or Normal and press Select. Delivery note—A note is sent to you confirming delivery of the message. Scroll to On or Off and press Select. Send callback number—A callback number is sent to the recipient.
LINKED MESSAGES You can send messages that exceed 160 characters, which will be sent as a series of two or more messages, also known as a linked message. In the navigation bar, you can see the message length indicator counting backwards from 160. For example, 10 (2) means that you can still add 10 characters for the text to be sent as two messages. Using special (Unicode) characters take up more space. If there are special characters in your message, the indicator may not show the message length correctly.
Messages (Menu 1) 3 4 5 Choose the image or sound and press Insert. Press Options > Send to number, Send to e-mail or Send to many, and press Select. Enter the number of the recipient or the e-mail address and press Select. Read and reply When a multimedia message is being received, appears. Once the message has been fully downloaded, and Multimedia message received appear. 1 2 3 4 5 To view the message, press Show. To view the message later, press Exit > No when asked to discard.
When you read or reply to an MMS, the following options are available: Delete message—Delete a saved message. Reply—Reply to the message. Press Options > Send. The sender’s phone number or e-mail is used as the default. Forward to no.—Forward the message to another number. Forward to e-mail—Forward the message to an e-mail address. Edit—Edit the message. You can only edit messages that you have written. Message details—View the message subject, size, and class.
Messages (Menu 1) Save voice mailbox number Your wireless provider may have already saved your voice mailbox number to your phone. If so, the number will appear in the display in step 2. Press OK to leave the number unchanged. 1 At the start screen, select Menu > Messages > Voice messages > Voice mailbox number and press Select. After a brief pause, the Voice mailbox number screen appears in the display. 2 If the box is empty, enter the voice mailbox area code and number. 3 Press OK.
Important: Be precise; you will need this information in “Setup voice mail with dialing codes” on page 28. INSERT DIALING CODES Press the * key repeatedly to cycle through dialing codes. Once the desired code appears in the display, pause briefly and the code is inserted into the dialing string. The following dialing codes are available: Dialing code Indicates... * Bypasses a set of instructions. p Pauses for 2.5 seconds before sending any numbers that follow.
Messages (Menu 1) Download pictures Your phone can download pictures, or receive them from compatible phones using text messaging to use in messages. You can also create pictures and send them to your phone or other compatible phones. Write and send One picture message is generally equivalent in size to three text messages. When you insert a picture into a message, you’ll have enough remaining space for about 121 characters in the message.
2 3 4 If you have more than one picture message, scroll to the message of your choice and press Select to view the message. When you have unopened picture messages in your inbox, is shown in the upper left corner of the start screen as a reminder. Scroll to view the whole picture if necessary. Once you are finished, press Back to move the picture message to the Inbox, or press Options for other choices, such as Reply or Forward.
Messages (Menu 1) • MESSAGE FOLDERS Save messages to folders You can save drafts of messages or received messages to an existing folder or to a folder that you have created. 1 2 Open the received message or create a new message and press Options. Scroll to Save or Save message > Sent items, Templates, Archive, or a folder you have created on your own and press Select. Save the message to another folder 1 2 While viewing a message, press Options > Save or Save message and press Select.
RENAME A FOLDER 1 2 3 4 At the start screen, select Menu > Messages > Text messages > My folders and press Select. Any folders that you have created appear in the display. Scroll to the folder you wish to rename and press Options. Scroll to Rename folder and press Select. Enter the new name for the folder and press OK to confirm or Back to exit. DELETE A FOLDER Only folders created in My folders can be deleted. The Inbox, Outbox, Archive, and Templates folders are protected.
Call log (Menu 2) 7 Call log (Menu 2) Call log stores information about the last 30 missed, 30 received, or 30 dialed calls. It also adds the total duration of all calls. When the number of calls exceed the maximum, the most recent call replaces the oldest. Whether viewing missed, received, or dialed calls, the menu options are the same: Call time—Display the date and time of the call. Send message—Send a message to the number. View number—Display the number.
1 2 3 At the start screen, press the Talk key. OR At the start screen, select Menu > Call log > Dialed numbers and press Select. Scroll to a name or number and press Options. Scroll to an option and press Select to view or activate the option. Call times You can make or receive up to five calls to or from the same number and view the time each call occurred. Your clock must be set for this feature to work accurately. 1 While viewing a missed or received call, press Options > Call time and press Select.
Call log (Menu 2) CLEAR TIMERS At the start screen, select Menu > Call log > Call timers > Clear call timers > OK enter your lock code, and press OK. • DURATION OF DATA/FAX CALLS Data/fax calls are a Network Service. See “Network services” on page 3 for more information. If your wireless service provider supports this feature, you can view the size or duration of sent or received data and fax calls.
8 Profiles (Menu 3) Profiles define how your phone reacts when you receive a call or message, how your keypad sounds when you press a key, and more. Ringing options, keypad tones, and other settings for each of the available profiles can be left at their default setting, or customized to suit your needs. The following profiles are available: Normal, Silent, Meeting, Outdoor, and Pager. Profiles are also available for enhancements such as a headset and car kit.
Settings (Menu 4) 9 Settings (Menu 4) Use this menu to set or change the Right selection key (the Go to Menu) settings, time and date settings, call settings, phone settings, display settings, tone settings, enhancement settings, security settings, and to restore the factory settings. • RIGHT SELECTION KEY SETTINGS You can change the function of the Right selection key on your phone so that your most frequently used functions can be quickly accessed from the start screen.
If your wireless service provider supports this feature, then location info sharing allows the phone to share position information over the network. For calls to emergency numbers, this position information may be used by the emergency operator to determine the position of the phone. The functionality of this feature is dependent on the network, satellite systems, and the agency receiving the information. It may not function in all areas or at all times.
Settings (Menu 4) Calling cards If you use a calling card for long distance calls, you can save the calling card numbers in your phone. Your phone can store up to four calling cards. SAVE INFORMATION 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Call settings > Calling card and press Select. Enter your lock code and press OK. Scroll to one of the four memory locations and press Options > Edit > OK > Dialing sequence and press Select.
Receive data or fax calls Data or fax calls is a Network Service. See “Network services” on page 3 for more information. If your wireless service provider supports this feature, then you can set up the phone to send or receive data or fax calls when a terminal, such as a PDA or PC, is connected. For better performance during data calls, place the phone on a stationary surface with the keypad facing downward. Do not move the phone by holding it in your hand during a data call.
Settings (Menu 4) 3 Enter the delay (in minutes and seconds) and press OK. Important: When keyguard is on, it may be possible to dial the emergency number programmed into your phone. Key in the emergency number and press the Talk key. The number is displayed only after you have keyed in its last digit. Touch tones Touch tones, or DTMF tones, are the tones that sound when you press the keys on your phone’s keypad.
Help text Your phone displays brief descriptions for most menu items. When you arrive at a feature or menu, pause for about 10 seconds and wait for the help text to display. Use the scroll keys to page through the full help text, if necessary. The default setting for Help text is on. However, you can turn help text on or off by doing the following from the start screen. At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Phone settings > Help text activation > On or Off and press Select.
Settings (Menu 4) CHANGE THE FORMAT At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Time settings > Clock > Time format > 24-hour or am/pm and press Select. Date SHOW/HIDE THE DATE At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Time settings > Date > Show date or Hide date and press Select. SET THE DATE 1 2 At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Time settings > Date > Set the date and press Select. Enter the date and press OK.
2 3 4 Browse the gallery, highlight a folder, and press Open. Browse the folder. When you arrive at the image of your choice, select Options > Set as wallpaper and press Select. 5 If Replace current wallpaper? appears in the display, press OK. To activate/deactivate wallpaper, at the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Display settings > Wallpaper > On or Off and press Select. Choose a color scheme You can change the color of some display components in your phone, such as indicators and signal bars.
Settings (Menu 4) • ENHANCEMENT SETTINGS The Enhancement settings menu is shown only if the phone is or has been connected to a compatible enhancement. At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Enhancement settings > Headset, Handsfree, TTY/TDD, or Music stand and press Select. Handsfree Scroll to the option of your choice and press Select to enter the option’s submenu and modify its settings.
TTY/TDD CALLS • • Check with the manufacturer of the TTY/TDD device for a connecting cable that is compatible with the Nokia 6225 phone. TTY/TDD communications depend on network availability. Check with your service provider for availability and description of services. MAKE A CALL 1 2 3 At the start screen, enter the number and press the Talk key. When the receiving party answers, begin typing your conversation on the TTY/TDD. Press the End key to end the call.
Settings (Menu 4) If you selected On power-up or On, you must enter your lock code before the phone will function normally. Once the lock code has been accepted, your phone functions normally. Important: Call not allowed is displayed if you attempt to place a call while phone is locked. To answer a call with phone lock on, press Answer or the Talk key.
Note: Contact your service provider for the restriction password. 1 2 3 4 At the start screen, select Menu > Settings > Security settings > Call restrictions and press Select. Enter the security code and press OK. Scroll through the types of calls you can restrict, and press Select: Restrict outgoing calls—Calls cannot be made. Restrict incoming calls—Calls cannot be received. Scroll to an option (Select, Add restriction, Edit, or Delete) and press Select.
Settings (Menu 4) 2 3 4 Enter the feature code from your service provider (for example, *900 for activating Forward if busy) and press OK. Press Select when Call forwarding is displayed. Scroll to the type of forwarding that matches the feature code you entered (for example, Forward if busy), press Select, then press Activate. The activated feature code is now stored in your phone, and you are returned to the Feature code field.
Call waiting If your wireless provider supports this feature, call waiting notifies you of an incoming call even while you are in a call. You can then accept, reject, or ignore the incoming call. 1 2 During a call, press Answer or the Talk key to answer the waiting call. The first call is put on hold. Press the End key to end the active call.
Network (Menu 5) 10 Network (Menu 5) The menu options you see in your phone are based on your service provider’s network. The network determines which options actually appear in the phone’s menu. Check with your service provider for more information. The Network menu allows you to customize the way your phone chooses a network in which to operate while you are within or outside of your primary or home system. Your phone is set to search for the most cost-effective network.
11 Radio (Menu 6) The FM radio uses the wire of the HDS-3 Stereo headset as an antenna. A compatible headset needs to be attached to the device for the FM radio to function properly. Note: Listen to music at a moderate level. Continuous exposure to high volume may damage your hearing. • TURN ON AND OFF 1 2 To turn on the radio, at the start screen, select Menu > Radio and press Select. To turn off the radio, press and hold the End key.
Camera (Menu 7) 12 Camera (Menu 7) With the phone’s built-in camera, you can take a photo and save the photo to the Gallery menu or attach the photo to an entry in your contacts list. The camera lens is on the back of the phone, and the display of the phone works as a viewfinder. The camera produces JPEG images. • TAKE A PHOTO 1 At the start screen, select Menu > Camera > Standard photo, Portrait photo or Night Mode and press Select. Standard photo—When you want to take normal landscape photos.
2 Press Start. A beep sounds while the self-timer is running, and beeps faster when the camera is about to capture the photo. After the timeout, the camera takes the photo and saves the photo in the Images folder of the Gallery menu. • SETTINGS 1 At the start screen, select Menu > Camera > Settings and press Select. 2 Scroll to one of the following options and press Select: Default mode—Scroll to Standard photo, Portrait photo, or Night mode as the default and press Select.
Gallery (Menu 8) 13 Gallery (Menu 8) You can save pictures and ringing tones to folders in the gallery, or create folders of your own and save them there. You can download images and tones using MMS, web sites, or Nokia PC Suite. • OPEN THE GALLERY At the start screen, select Menu > Gallery and press Select. The following submenus are displayed: View folders—Explore the folders in the gallery menu. See “View folders” in the following section for more info. Add folder—Add a folder of your own.
14 Games (Menu 9) Challenge yourself or a friend to one of the fun games in your phone. Note: Some menus listed are Network Services. Contact your wireless provider for more information. • PLAY A GAME 1 2 3 At the start screen, select Menu > Games > Select game and press Select. Scroll to a game and press the Talk key. Scroll to one of the following options (if supported by the particular game) and press Select: New game—Launches a new game.
Voice (Menu 10) 15 Voice (Menu 10) • VOICE DIALING You can dial up to 10 stored numbers using voice dialing. Before using voice tags, note that: • • • • Voice tags are not language dependent. They are dependent on the speaker’s voice. You must say the name exactly as you said it when you recorded it. Voice tags are sensitive to background noise. Record voice tags and use them in a quiet environment. Very short names are not accepted. Use long names and avoid similar names for different numbers.
PLAY BACK 1 2 3 Press Menu > Voice > Voice tags and press Select. Press Select, then scroll to the name with the voice tag you want to hear. Press Options > Playback and press Select. CHANGE 1 2 3 4 Press Menu > Voice > Voice tags and press Select. Press Select, then scroll to the name with the voice tag you want to change. Press Options > Change and press Select. Press Start. The phone repeats your voice tag, and Voice tag saved appears. DELETE 1 2 3 4 Press Menu > Voice > Voice tags and press Select.
Voice (Menu 10) When the phone finds the voice tag, Found appears, and the phone plays the recognized voice tag through the earpiece. The function you requested is activated. Options After you have associated a voice tag to a command, you can choose one of the following options: • Select Playback to listen to the voice command tag. • Select Change to change the voice command. • Select Delete to erase the voice command tag.
16 Minibrowser (Menu 11) Minibrowser is a Network Service. See “Network services” on page 3 for more information. Your phone has a built-in browser you can use to connect to selected services on the mobile internet. The web browser on your phone can display WAP-based content.
Minibrowser (Menu 11) Phone keys • To browse the WAP site, press the Scroll up key or the Scroll down key. • To select a highlighted item, press Select. • To enter letters and numbers, press a key from 0–9. • To enter special characters, press the * key. Receive a call while online Depending on your wireless service provider, you may still be able to receive a voice call while using the WAP browser. • To answer the incoming call, press the Talk key.
17 Organizer (Menu 12) Your phone contains features to help organize your everyday life, including an alarm clock, calendar, to-do list, calculator, countdown timer, and calorie calculator. • THE ALARM CLOCK Set an alarm The alarm clock is based on the phone clock. It sounds an alert any time you specify and even works if the phone is turned off. IF AN ALARM HAS NOT BEEN SET 1 2 3 At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Alarm clock > Alarm time and press Select.
Organizer (Menu 12) • THE CALENDAR The calendar keeps track of reminders, calls you need to make, meetings, and birthdays. It can even sound an alarm for any of these events. Monthly view provides an overview of the selected month and weeks. It also allows you to jump to a specific date. Any days or dates that appear in bold font contain calendar notes such as a meeting or reminder. Open At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Calendar and press Select.
View notes (day view) After you have created some calendar notes, you can view them as follows: 1 2 3 4 At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Calendar and press Select. Scroll to the date containing the note. Any days containing notes will be in bold font. Press Options > View day and press Select. To view a highlighted note, press Options > View and press Select.

If you selected Via infrared, activate the infrared port of the other device, align the infrared ports of both devices, and press Select. If you selected Via calendar, enter the number for the recipient, or press Find to retrieve a number from the contacts list, and press OK. The note is sent.
• THE CALCULATOR The calculator in your phone adds, subtracts, multiplies, divides, calculates the square and the square root and converts currency values. Note: This calculator has a limited accuracy and is designed for simple calculations. 1 At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Calculator and press Select. 2 Enter the first number in the calculation. Press the # key for a decimal point if necessary.
Organizer (Menu 12) • THE COUNTDOWN TIMER You can enter a specified time (up to 99 hours and 59 minutes). When the time runs out, your phone sounds an alarm. Note: The countdown timer only works when the phone is on. Once you turn off your phone, the timer is no longer active. Set the countdown timer 1 2 3 The At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Countdown timer and press Select. Enter the time (in hh:mm format) and press OK. Enter a note for the timer and press OK.
3 Press Stop to end the timing. The total time is displayed on the screen. Measure split time You can use the split time function for such things as a long distance race when you need to pace yourself. 1 2 3 At the start screen, select Menu > Organizer > Stopwatch > Split timing > Start. Press Split to note the lapsed time. The timer continues to run. The split time appears below the running time. If you split the time more than once, the new measured time appears at the beginning of the list.

To stop the clock, press Stop. • THE CALORIE CALCULATOR The calorie calculator estimates the amount of energy used in various physical activities. The energy used depends on age, weight, and gender. You can save up to 10 activities in your phone. The calorie calculator provides general measurements for personal use that may vary from scientific measurements.
18 Applications (Menu 13) Applications is a Network Service. See “Network services” on page 3 for more information. If your wireless service provider supports this feature, you will find useful Java utilities pre-installed on your phone. Also, you can manage and download new Java applications that may be offered by your wireless provider. • LAUNCH 1 2 At the start screen, select Menu > Applications > Select application and press Select.
Enhancements 19 Enhancements Check the model number of any charger before use with this device. This device is intended for use when supplied with power from ACP-12. Warning: Use only batteries, chargers and enhancements approved by Nokia for use with this particular model. The use of any other types may invalidate any approval or warranty, and may be dangerous. Consumer Update on Wireless Phones U.S. Food and Drug Administration 1. Do wireless phones pose a health hazard? The available scientific evidence does not show that any health problems are associated with using wireless phones. There is no proof, however, that wireless phones are absolutely safe. Wireless phones emit low levels of radiofrequency energy (RF) in the microwave range while being used. They also emit very low levels of RF when in the stand-by mode.
Appendix B FDA shares regulatory responsibilities for wireless phones with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). All phones that are sold in the United States must comply with FCC safety guidelines that limit RF exposure. FCC relies on FDA and other health agencies for safety questions about wireless phones. FCC also regulates the base stations that the wireless phone networks rely upon.
5. What research is needed to decide whether RF exposure from wireless phones poses a health risk? A combination of laboratory studies and epidemiological studies of people actually using wireless phones would provide some of the data that are needed. Lifetime animal exposure studies could be completed in a few years. However, very large numbers of animals would be needed to provide reliable proof of a cancer promoting effect if one exists.
Appendix B Manufacturers of wireless phones must report the RF exposure level for each model of phone to the FCC. The FCC website (http://www.fcc.gov/oet/rfsafety) gives directions for locating the FCC identification number on your phone so you can find your phone’s RF exposure level in the online listing. 8.

La pantalla inicial La pantalla inicial es “el punto de inicio” e indica que su teléfono está en la modalidad de inactividad. Potencia de la batería Fuerza de la señal Contactos Menú Fuerza de la señal—Mientras más alta la barra, más fuerte será la cobertura de la señal de la red. Nivel de la batería—Mientras más alta la barra, más fuerte será la potencia de la batería. Oprima la tecla de selección izquierda para elegir esta opción. Oprima la tecla de selección derecha para elegir esta opción.
Bienvenido Ícono Indica... El temporizador está funcionando. Vea “Temporizador” pág. 68. El cronómetro está funcionando en segundo plano. Ver “Cronómetro” pág. 69. Cuando aparece fijo, la conexión IR está activada y su teléfono está listo de enviar o recibir datos vía su puerto IR: cuando destella, significa que su teléfono está tratando de conectarse o otro dispositivo o que ha perdido la conexión. Vea “Enviar y recibir datos vía IR” pág. 43. Todas las llamadas serán desviadas a otro número.

Preparar su teléfono 3 Preparar su teléfono La antena Su teléfono tiene una antena interior ubicada cerca de la parte superior. Sujete el teléfono como lo haría con cualquier otro teléfono, sobre el hombro y con la antena hacia arriba. Nota: Al igual como sucede con cualquier dispositivo radiotransmisor, no toque innecesariamente la antena cuando el teléfono esté encendido.
REINSTALAR LA CUBIERTA POSTERIOR 4 Deslice la cubierta posterior hacia la parte superior del teléfono y presione hasta que la cubierta quede en su lugar. CARGAR LA BATERÍA 1 Enchufe el cargador a un tomacorriente AC estándar. 2 Conecte el cable del cargador al conector redondeado en la base del teléfono. Al transcurrir unos segundos, la barra indicadora de la fuerza de la batería aparece y empieza a oscilar.
Preparar su teléfono RETIRAR LA CUBIERTA POSTERIOR Y LA BATERÍA Ver “Retirar la cubierta posterior” y “Retirar la batería” pág. 9, para instrucciones. RETIRAR LA CUBIERTA FRONTAL 1 Deslice hacia arriba, suavemente, la parte superior de la cubierta frontal y quítela. INSTALAR EL TECLADO Y LA CUBIERTA FRONTAL 2 Retire el teclado de la cubierta frontal y colóquelo en la nueva, como es mostrado. 3 Presione la cubierta frontal y teclado en el teléfono para que caigan en su lugar.
Llamando al número recién marcado 1 2 En la pantalla inicial, oprima la tecla Hablar para mostrar los últimos 30 números marcados. Recorra hasta el número (o nombre) que quiera volver a marcar y oprima la tecla Hablar. Llamadas de conferencia Llamada de conferencia es un servicio de red que le permite hablar con dos otros participantes más. 1 2 3 4 5 6 Llame al primer participante. Con el primer participante en línea, elija Opciones > Llamada nueva y oprima Seleccionar.
Preparar su teléfono Ajustar el volumen del auricular • Para subir el volumen de una llamada, oprima la parte superior de la tecla de volumen; ésta se encuentra en el lado izquierdo del teléfono. 4 Ingreso de texto Puede usar dos métodos para ingresar textos y números. • El método estándar es la única forma de ingresar textos en el directorio, agenda y para renombrar grupos de llamantes. • El ingreso predecible de texto es una forma rápida y fácil de redactar, crear notas de agenda y hacer listas de tareas. • MÉTODO ESTÁNDAR Texto (Abc) • Oprima una tecla una vez para insertar su primera letra; dos veces para ingresar la segunda letra, etc.
Ingreso de texto O BIEN 1 Cuando aparezca un recuadro para ingreso de texto, oprima Opciones, vaya hasta Texto predictivo, y oprima Seleccionar. 2 Vaya hasta el idioma preferido y oprima Seleccionar. Nota: La configuración de idioma afecta los formatos de hora y fecha del reloj, reloj de alarma y agenda. Ingreso de texto La ilustración a continuación muestra su pantalla cada vez que una tecla es oprimida.
5 El Directorio (Contactos) El directorio puede almacenar hasta 500 ingresos con números múltiples, y notas de texto por contacto. La cantidad de números e ingresos de texto que puede guardarse podría variar, dependiendo de su longitud y la cantidad total de ingresos en su directorio. • AGREGAR CONTACTOS Guardar un nombre y número 1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, ingrese el número telefónico que desea guardar. Recorra hasta una de las opciones siguientes y oprima Seleccionar para ir al submenú: Desplazar vista—Elija Lista de nombres, Nombre y número, o Nombre e imagen. Estado de la memoria—Muestra la cantidad de la memoria usada y disponible.
Mensajes (Menú 1) 6 Mensajes (Menú 1) Si se ha suscrito con su proveedor al servicio de mensajería, podrá enviar y recibir mensajes a teléfonos suscritos a un servicio compatible. También, podrá enviar y recibir mensajes de gráficos, mensajes realzados, mensajes multimedia y de email. Al enviar mensajes, puede que aparezca el texto: “Mensaje enviado.” Esto significa que el mensaje ha sido enviado por su teléfono al centro de mensaje programado en su equipo.
1 2 3 4 Oprima Mostrar para leer el mensaje, o Salir para guardarlo en su Buzón de entrada. Cuando tiene mensajes sin leer en su Buzón de entrada, aparece en la esquina superior izquierda de la pantalla inicial como recordatorio. Use la tecla direccional superior e inferior para ver el texto entero, si es necesario. Elija Opciones > Responder y oprima Seleccionar. Elija Iniciar respuesta con, y redacte su respuesta usando el teclado. Elija Opciones > Enviar y oprima Seleccionar.
Mensajes (Menú 1) Cambiar las opciones de envío 1 2 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Mensajes > Mensajes de texto > Configuraciones de mensaje > Opciones de envío y oprima Seleccionar. Vaya hasta la configuración que desee personalizar y oprima Seleccionar. Prioridad—Programe la prioridad de la nota como: Urgente o Normal y oprima Seleccionar. Aviso de envío—Se le envía una nota confirmando la entrega del mensaje. Vaya a Activar o Desactivar y oprima Seleccionar.
MENSAJES ENLAZADOS Es posible enviar mensajes que tengan más de 160 caracteres, éstos serán enviados como una secuencia de dos o más mensajes, denominados mensajes enlazados. En la barra navegadora se ve la cuenta atrás, a partir de 160, del indicador de la longitud del mensaje. Por ejemplo, 10 (2) significa que aún podrá añadir 10 caracteres más al texto que será enviado como 2 mensajes. El uso de caracteres especiales ocupa más espacio.
Mensajes (Menú 1) 4 5 Oprima Opciones, recorra hasta Enviar a número, Enviar a e-mail o Copias múltiples, y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese el número o dirección de email del destinatario, y oprima Seleccionar. Leer y contestar mensajes multimedia Cuando recibe un mensaje multimedia, aparecerá . Cuando haya descargado todo el mensaje, y Mensaje multimedia recibido aparecerán en la pantalla. 1 2 3 4 5 Para ver el mensaje, oprima Mostrar.
Cuando lea o conteste un mensaje MMS, las opciones siguientes podrían estar disponibles: Eliminar mensaje—Borra un mensaje guardado. Responder—Conteste un mensaje. Oprima Opciones > Enviar. El número telefónico o email del remitente es usado como el predeterminado. Reenviar a número—Desvíe el mensaje a otro número telefónico. Reenviar a e-mail—Desvíe el mensaje a una dirección de email. Editar—Edite el mensaje. Sólo podrá editar mensajes que haya redactado.
Mensajes (Menú 1) Guardar su número de correo de voz Su proveedor de servicio podría haber guardado su número de correo de voz en su teléfono. De ser así, el número aparecerá en la pantalla en el paso 2. Oprima OK para dejar el número tal cual. 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Mensajes > Mensajes de voz > Número del buzón de voz y oprima Seleccionar. Tras una breve pausa, el recuadro Número del Buzón de voz aparece en la pantalla.
Importante: Sea preciso. Necesitará esta información para “Configurar su correo de voz con los códigos de marcación” pág. 28. INSERTAR CÓDIGOS DE MARCACIÓN Oprima la tecla * varias veces para recorrer los códigos de marcación. Cuando la pantalla muestre el código que quiera, haga una breve pausa y el código es insertado en la secuencia de marcación. Los códigos siguientes de marcación están disponibles: Código de marcación Indica... * Desvía un conjunto de instrucciones. p Pausa por 2.
Mensajes (Menú 1) Las protecciones de copyright pueden prevenir la reproducción, cambio, traslado o desvío de ciertas imágenes, timbrados musicales u otro contenido. Descargar imágenes Su teléfono puede descargar imágenes, o recibirlas de equipos compatibles vía el servicio de mensajes de texto para usarlos en sus mensajes. También puede crear gráficos y enviarlos a su teléfono u otros teléfonos compatibles.
Ver un mensaje de gráficos Cuando recibe un mensaje de gráficos, su teléfono emite un sonido y Mensaje recibido aparece con el ícono de mensaje ( ). 1 Oprima Mostrar para ver el mensaje de gráficos, u oprima Salir para guardarlo en su Buzón de entrada. 2 Si tiene más de un mensaje de gráficos, vaya hasta el mensaje preferido y oprima Seleccionar para ver el mensaje.
Mensajes (Menú 1) Ver y contestar mensajes de email Su proveedor de servicio podría enrutar los mensajes de email a su teléfono, los cuales aparecerán como mensajes de texto. Ver “Leer y contestar el mensaje de texto” pág. 21, para instrucciones sobre cómo leer y contestar los mensajes de email. • CARPETAS DE MENSAJES Guardar mensajes en las carpetas Podrá guardar los borradores de mensajes o mensajes recibidos en una carpeta existente o en otra carpeta que haya creado.
2 Ingrese un nombre para la carpeta nueva y oprima OK. RENOMBRAR UNA CARPETA 1 2 3 4 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Mensajes > Mensajes de texto > Mis carpetas y oprima Seleccionar. Cualquier carpeta que haya creado aparecerá en la pantalla. Recorra hasta la carpeta que desee borrar y oprima Opciones. Vaya a Renombrar, y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese el nombre nuevo para la carpeta y OK para confirmar o Atrás para salir. ELIMINAR UNA CARPETA Sólo las carpetas creadas en Mis carpetas pueden borrarse.
Registro (Menú 2) 7 Registro (Menú 2) El registro guarda información sobre las últimas 30 llamadas perdidas, las últimas 30 llamadas recibidas o los últimos 30 números marcados. También calcula la duración total de todas las llamadas. Cuando la cantidad de llamadas excede el máximo, la llamada más reciente reemplaza la más antigua. Las opciones para las llamadas perdidas, recibidas o marcadas son las mismas: Hora de llamada—Muestra la fecha y hora de la llamada. Enviar mensaje—Envía un mensaje al número.
1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, oprima la tecla Hablar. O BIEN En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Registro > Números marcados y oprima Seleccionar. Recorra hasta un nombre o número y oprima Opciones. Recorra hasta una opción y oprima Seleccionar para verla o activarla. Hora de las llamadas Puede recibir hasta cinco llamadas del mismo número, y ver la hora en que cada una ocurrió. Su reloj deberá estar configurado para que esta opción funcione debidamente.
Registro (Menú 2) Nota: Podría reprogramar algunos cronómetros, incluso el cronómetro general, durante actualizaciones de servicio o software. CRONÓMETROS A CERO En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Registro > Duración de las llamadas > Cronómetros a cero, oprima OK, ingrese su código de bloqueo, y oprima OK. • DURACIÓN DE LLAMADAS DE DATOS/FAX La función Llamadas de datos/fax es un Servicio de Red. Ver “Servicios de red” pág. 3, para más información.

Todos datos recibidos—Ver el volumen (kB) de todos los datos recibidos vía el explorador. Última sesión del explorador—Ver la duración de la última sesión del explorador.
Perfiles (Menú 3) 8 Perfiles (Menú 3) Los perfiles definen la manera en que su teléfono recibe las llamadas o mensajes, produce los sonidos del teclado al oprimir una tecla, y más. Las opciones para los timbrados, los tonos del teclado y otras configuraciones para cada uno de los perfiles disponibles pueden permanecer como vienen programadas, o podrá personalizarlas para ajustarse a sus exigencias. Los perfiles siguientes están disponibles: Normal, Silencio, Reunión, Exterior, y Páger.
9 Configuraciones (Menú 4) Use este menú para cambiar las configuraciones de: la tecla de selección derecha (el menú Ir a), hora y fecha, llamadas, teléfono, pantalla, tonos, accesorios, seguridad y restaurar las configuraciones de fábrica. • CONFIGURACIONES DE LA TECLA DE SELECCIÓN DERECHA Es posible cambiar la función de la tecla de selección derecha en su teléfono para tener acceso rápido desde la pantalla inicial a las funciones de uso frecuente.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) Si esta función es respaldada por su proveedor de servicio, su teléfono tendrá acceso para compartir la ubicación de información sobre la red. Para llamadas a números de emergencia, está información de ubicación podría ser usada por el operador de emergencia para localizar su teléfono. Esta función depende de la red, sistemas de satélite y la agencia receptora de la información. Es posible que no funcione en todas las áreas en todo momento.
Actualización automática de servicio Su teléfono puede recibir los datos enviados por su proveedor de servicio para actualizar los servicios celulares. En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de llamadas > Actualización automática de servicio > Activada o Desactivada y oprima Seleccionar. Tarjetas de llamadas Si utiliza una tarjeta de llamada para llamadas de larga distancia, podrá guardar los números de éstas en su teléfono. Su teléfono puede guardar hasta cuatro tarjetas.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) 5 6 Mantenga oprimida la tecla Hablar por unos segundos hasta que aparezca Tarjeta de llamada. Cuando oiga el tono o mensaje de sistema, oprima OK. Recibir llamadas de datos/fax La función Llamadas datos/fax es un Servicio de Red. Ver “Servicios de red” pág. 3, para más información. Si esta función es respaldada por su proveedor de servicio, podrá programar su teléfono para enviar o recibir llamadas datos/fax cuando esté conectado a terminales como PDA o PC.
1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de teléfono > Bloqueo automático > Activar o Desactivar y oprima Seleccionar. Si elige Activar, Fijar demora aparecerá en la pantalla. Ingrese el tiempo de demora (en minutos y segundos) y oprima OK. Importante: Cuando el Bloqueo de teclas esté activado, es posible hacer llamadas al número de emergencia programado en su teléfono. Marque el número de emergencia y oprima la tecla Hablar.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) 3 Cuando termine de redactar el saludo, oprima Opciones, vaya hasta Guardar, y oprima Seleccionar. Vaya hasta Eliminar y oprima Seleccionar si desea borrar el saludo inicial y redactar otro. Textos de ayuda Su teléfono muestra descripciones breves para la mayoría de los menús. Al abrir una función o menú, deténgase unos 10 segundos para que aparezca el texto de ayuda. Use las teclas direccionales para recorrer todo el texto de ayuda, si es necesario.
CONFIGURAR LA HORA 1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de hora > Reloj > Configurar la hora y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese la hora (en el formato hh:mm) y oprima OK. Vaya a am o pm, y oprima Seleccionar. CAMBIAR EL FORMATO En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de hora > Reloj > Formato de hora > 24 horas o 12 horas y oprima Seleccionar.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) • CONFIGURACIONES DE PANTALLA Elegir una imagen de fondo Puede configurar su teléfono para que muestre una imagen de fondo (wallpaper) en la pantalla inicial. 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de pantalla > Imagen de fondo > Seleccionar fondo y oprima Seleccionar. 2 Navegue por la galería, resalte una carpeta y oprima Abrir. 3 Recorra la carpeta.
1 2 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de pantalla > Tiempo espera del protector de pantalla y oprima Seleccionar > 2 minutos o 5 minutos y oprima Seleccionar. Si desea programar otro tiempo (hasta 60 minutos), vaya a Otro, ingrese el tiempo, y oprima OK. • CONFIGURACIÓN DE TONOS De este menú, puede ajustar el volumen del tono, los tonos del teclado y otras configuraciones de tono para el perfil activo. Ver “Personalizar un perfil” pág.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) CONFIGURAR EL PERFIL TTY/TDD Puede conectar su teléfono directamente al dispositivo TTY/TDD. Para que su teléfono acepte la conexión TTY/TDD, deberá configurar el perfil TTY/TDD. Importante: Ciertos fabricantes de TTY/TDD sugieren que se mantenga por lo menos una distancia de 45 cms (18 pulgadas) entre el teléfono y el dispositivo TTY/TDD.
• CONFIGURACIONES DE SEGURIDAD Activar o desactivar el bloqueo telefónico Esta opción protege su teléfono de las llamadas desautorizadas o acceso ajeno a los datos guardados en su teléfono. Cuando el bloqueo telefónico esté activado, la pantalla mostrará Bloqueado al encender o apagar el teléfono. A pesar de tener el teléfono bloqueado, puede hacer llamadas al número de emergencia programado en su teléfono.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) Cambiar el código de bloqueo El código de bloqueo original es 1234 o los últimos cuatro dígitos de su número telefónico. Si ingresa un código incorrecto cinco veces seguidas, su teléfono le pedirá el código de seguridad. 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de seguridad > Códigos de acceso > Cambiar código de seguridad y oprima Seleccionar. 2 Ingrese el código de bloqueo existente (u original), y oprima OK.
Nota: Si ingresa el código de seguridad erróneo cinco veces seguidas, no podrá ingresar un código por cinco minutos, aun así apague y encienda el teléfono entre los ingresos erróneos. 1 2 3 4 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Configuraciones de seguridad > Códigos de acceso > Cambiar código de seguridad y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese el código actual de seguridad (el código original es 12345) y oprima OK. Ingrese el código nuevo de seguridad (hasta 10 caracteres) y oprima OK.
Configuraciones (Menú 4) ACTIVAR 1 2 3 4 5 Nota: Esta función es un Servicio de Red. Es posible que todas las opciones listadas no aparezcan en la pantalla. Contacte a su proveedor de servicio para más información. En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Servicios de red > Reenvío de llamada y oprima Seleccionar. Elija cualquiera de las siguientes opciones: Desviar todas las llamadas—Desvía todas las llamadas a un número específico.
Ver su propio número telefónico En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Configuraciones > Servicios de red > Selección de número propio y oprima Seleccionar. • RESTAURAR CONFIGURACIONES DE FÁBRICA Puede reprogramar algunas de las configuraciones de los menús a sus programaciones originales. Los datos que ha ingresado o ha descargado no son eliminados, por ejemplo, los ingresos en su directorio.
Sistema (Menú 5) 10 Sistema (Menú 5) Las opciones que aparecen en su teléfono son basadas en la red de su proveedor. La red determina las opciones que aparecen actualmente en su teléfono. Consulte con su proveedor para más información. El menú Sistema le permite personalizar cómo su teléfono elige una red para funcionar cuando está fuera o dentro de su sistema primario u original. Su teléfono está preprogramado para buscar automáticamente el sistema más económico.
11 Radio (Menú 6) El cable del Equipo Auricular Estéreo HDS-3 sirve de antena para la radio FM. Un auricular compatible debería estar conectado al dispositivo para que la radio FM funcione correctamente. Nota: Escuche música a un nivel agradable. Exponer los oídos a un volumen excesivo continuamente podría ser dañino. • ENCENDER Y APAGAR LA RADIO 1 2 Para apagar la radio, en la pantalla inicial elija Menú > Radio y oprima Seleccionar. Para apagar la radio, mantenga oprimida la tecla Finalizar.
Cámara (Menú 7) 12 Cámara (Menú 7) Con la cámara integrada de su teléfono, puede tomar fotos y guardarlas en el menú Galería o agregarlas a los contactos en el directorio. El lente de la cámara se encuentra en la parte posterior del teléfono, y la pantalla sirve como el visor. La cámara produce imágenes JPEG. • TOMAR UNA FOTO 1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Cámara > Foto estándar, Foto retrato o Modo nocturno y oprima Seleccionar. Foto estándar—Tomar una foto de tamño normal.
2 Oprima Iniciar. Se emite un bip mientras el temporizador funciona, y el bip se hace más rápido cuando la cámara esté lista para tomar la foto. Tras el tiempo de espera, la cámra toma la foto y la guarda en la carpeta Imágenes en el menú Galería. • CONFIGURACIONES 1 2 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Cámara > Configuraciones y oprima Seleccionar.
Galería (Menú 8) 13 Galería (Menú 8) Puede guardar imágenes y tonos musicales en las carpetas de la Galería, o crear sus propias carpetas y guardarlos allí. Puede descargar imágenes y tonos vía MMS, páginas Web, o con el Nokia PC Suite. • ABRIR LA GALERÍA En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Galería y oprima Seleccionar. Verá estas opciones: Ver carpetas—Recorra las carpetas en el menú Galería. Ver “Ver carpetas”, en la sección siguiente para más información.
14 Juegos (Menú 9) Desafíese usted mismo o a un amigo a jugar cualquiera de los entretenidos juegos de su teléfono. Nota: Algunos menús listados son Servicios de Red. Contacte a su proveedor de servicio para más información. • JUGAR UN PARTIDO 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Juegos > Seleccionar juego y oprima Seleccionar. 2 Vaya a un juego y oprima la tecla Hablar.
Voz (Menú 10) 15 Voz (Menú 10) • MARCACIÓN POR VOZ Puede marcar hasta 10 números guardados usando la marcación por voz. Antes de usar etiquetas de voz, observe que: • Las etiquetas de voz no dependen del idioma. Dependen de la voz del hablante. • Deberá decir el nombre exactamente como lo grabó. • Las etiquetas de voz absorben fácilmente los ruidos. Grabe las etiquetas de voz y úselas en entornos no ruidosos. • No se aceptan los nombres muy cortos.
REPRODUCIR 1 2 3 Oprima Menú > Voz > Etiquetas de voz y oprima Seleccionar. Oprima Seleccionar y vaya al nombre con la etiqueta de voz que quiere escuchar. Oprima Opciones, elija Reproducir, y oprima Seleccionar. CAMBIAR 1 2 3 4 Oprima Menú > Voz > Etiquetas de voz y oprima Seleccionar. Oprima Seleccionar, luego vaya al nombre con la etiqueta de voz que quiere cambiar. Oprima Opciones > Cambiar y oprima Seleccionar. Oprima Iniciar. El teléfono reproduce su etiqueta, y aparecerá Etiqueta de voz guardada.
Voz (Menú 10) Activar un comando de voz Tras asociar una etiqueta de voz a una función del teléfono, podrá emitir un comando pronunciando la etiqueta de voz. 1 2 Mantenga oprimida Contactos (o Ir a). Cuando aparezca Hable ahora, pronuncie bien en el micrófono la etiqueta. Cuando el teléfono encuentre la etiqueta, Encontrado aparecerá en la pantalla y se oye la etiqueta de voz reconocida vía el auricular. La función que pidió es activada.
16 Miniexplorador (Menú 11) Esta función es un Servicio de Red. Ver “Servicios de red” pág. 3, para más información. Su teléfono tiene un navegador incorporado que puede usar para conectarse a servicios selectos de Internet. Si esta función es respaldada por su proveedor de servicio, tendrá acceso a pronósticos del tiempo, las noticias u horarios de vuelo, la Bolsa y más. El navegador Web de su teléfono puede mostrar contenido WAP.
Miniexplorador (Menú 11) Teclas del teléfono • • • • Para navegar por un sitio WAP, oprima la tecla direccional inferior o superior. Para elegir un ítem destacado, oprima Seleccionar. Para ingresar letras y números, oprima una de las teclas 0-9. Para ingresar caracteres especiales, oprima la tecla *. Recibir una llamada mientras está en línea Es posible que pueda recibir llamadas de voz cuando usa el navegador WAP, dependiendo de su proveedor de servicio celular.
17 Organizador (Menú 12) Su teléfono tiene opciones para ayudarle a organizar su vida cotidiana; incluye un reloj de alarma, agenda (calendario) lista de tareas, calculadora, cronómetro y calculadora de calorías. • RELOJ DE ALARMA Configurar la alarma El reloj de alarma está basado en el reloj del teléfono. Suena una alerta a la hora que programe y también funciona cuando el teléfono está apagado.
Organizador (Menú 12) • AGENDA Con la agenda puede programar recordatorios, llamadas por hacer, reuniones y cumpleaños. Puede programar una alarma para cualquiera de estos eventos. La vista mensual muestra el mes elegido completo y las semanas. También le permite ir a una fecha específica. Cualquier día o fecha que aparezca en negrillas contiene notas de agenda como recordatorio o reunión. Abrir En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Agenda y oprima Seleccionar.
Ver las notas (vista del día) Tras crear algunas notas de agenda, puede verlas de la manera siguiente: 1 2 3 4 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Agenda y oprima Seleccionar. Vaya a la fecha con la nota. Los días que tengan notas aparecerán en negrillas. Oprima Opciones > Notas del día y oprima Seleccionar. Para ver una nota destacada, oprima Opciones > Ver y oprima Seleccionar.
Organizador (Menú 12) 4 Vaya a la nota que quiera enviar y elija Opciones > Enviar nota > Vía infrarrojo, Como nota, o Vía SMS y oprima Seleccionar. 5 Si elige Vía infrarrojo, active el puerto infrarrojo del otro dispositivo, coloque alineados los puertos de ambos dispositivos y oprima Seleccionar. 6 Si elige Como nota, ingrese el número del destinatario (u oprima Buscar para obtenerlo de su directorio), y oprima OK. La nota es enviada. 7 Si elige Vía SMS, la nota aparecerá en la pantalla.
Nota: Esta calculadora tiene precisión limitada y es diseñada para procesos sencillos de cálculo. 1 2 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Calculadora y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese el número base para ser calculado. Oprima la tecla # para el punto decimal, si es necesario. Oprima la tecla * para recorrer los caracteres para sumar (+), restar (-), multiplicar ( ), y dividir (/). Pause brevemente para elegir el carácter en la pantalla.
Organizador (Menú 12) Programar el temporizador 1 2 3 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Temporizador y oprima Seleccionar. Ingrese la hora (en el formato hh:mm) y oprima OK. Ingrese una nota para el temporizador, y oprima OK. El ícono aparece en la pantalla al configurar el temporizador. Cuando vence el tiempo programado, su teléfono suena una alarma, muestra la nota del temporizador, y destellan las luces.
Medir el tiempo partido Puede usar la función de tiempo partido para carreras de largos tramos o cuando necesite controlar su paso. 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Cronómetro > Tiempo partido > Iniciar. 2 Oprima Partir para anotar el lapso de tiempo. El cronómetro sigue midiendo el tiempo. El tiempo partido aparece debajo del tiempo en progreso. Si parte el tiempo más de una vez, el tiempo medido actual aparece al comienzo de la lista.
Organizador (Menú 12) Nota de funcionamiento Si oprime la tecla Finalizar y regresa a la pantalla inicial, el reloj continúa funcionando en segundo plano y aparece en la esquina superior izquierda de la pantalla. Para regresar a la pantalla del cronómetro: 1 En la pantalla inicial, elija Menú > Organizador > Cronómetro > Continuar y oprima Seleccionar. 2 Para detener el reloj, oprima Parar. • CALCULADOR DE CALORÍAS Esta opción calcula la energía usada en varias actividades físicas.

La evidencia científica disponible no muestra que ningún problema de salud tiene relación con el uso de teléfonos celulares. No hay pruebas, sin embargo, que los teléfonos celulares son absolutamente seguros. Los teléfonos celulares emiten niveles bajos de radiofrecuencia (RF) en la gama de microonda durante el uso.
Anexo B El National Institute of Health participa también en actividades del grupo interagencia. La FDA comparte con la Federal Communications Commission (FCC) las responsabilidades para teléfonos celulares.
